As far as I can remember it has always been Del Rancho.

At Coit's today, I learned the name of the restaurant on 29th, just West of Penn. It was Hamburger Inn. It took a few minutes for it to sink in, but that's it. It has been bugging me for a couple of years. I know, at my age, the little things bother me too much.

Thanks, you are the first person from the group that I met and I enjoyed our conversation too. I sure hope that Mrs. Gen64 is OK, now you are asking me names? I think that the gentleman sitting straight across from me was probably papaou and he is the man that told me that the restaurant was Hamburger Inn. He definitely knew a lot about the old time South side. He really surprised me when he knew the pizza place at 25th and Kentucky. I enjoyed visiting with all of you and plan on attending when I can. I do a lot of traveling so there will be times when I am out of country or at least out of state.

As I said earlier, you were the first person from the forum that I met, so I won't forget you forum name, but if I can't remember your real name, that's just me.

I stayed up and watched it; recorded it and watched it again the next morning to see if it was as bad as I thought!! Mr. Picker it was down right sad to see her make such a fool of her self. She is definitely ready for Shady Pines Rest Home!! Awful............She tried singing Shakin' All Over - an ol' "Who's" tune. You can hear it on iTunes and maybe Youtube!

The main problem I saw with this is that the music totally drowned her out.

A friend of mine said it wasn't very good. We don't have TV so
I was trying to find a link on the Internet.

I quit watching Letterman about 20 years ago, but that band

the Tempo Club, and heard noise in the front. This guy was
rearranging the tables, it was Jack Sussy. He said he was going
to work there and was getting things ready. Jake asked if he
had any restaurant experience and he said that he worked at
a deli in New Orleans for a little while. Jake hired him. Sussy
had the charm necessary for good business, Jake's was about
as warm as a rattlesnake. Jake changed the name to Sussy's
because it covered the "Tempo" on the sign.

Prunepicker, I would like to chime in with some facts and some rumors (things I had believed but am not certain about). And hopefully, I will be corrected on the rumors. First, Sussy's name was Jack Sussman. When I was fourteen I double dated with a driving friend at Sussy's on about 40th and Lincoln Blvd, East side of the street. It was a big hit and he then opened "Jack's" on N. E. 23rd between coltrane and Sooner, North side of the street. It was a little more upscale. My first encounter with Jake Samara was at the Sussy's on about 24th and Robinson on the East side. I worked at Lincoln Plaza and met him again at the Lincoln restaurant. By the way, there was a bar attached called the Prow Lounge. I don't know the connection between Sussman and Jake so I will assume you know a lot more about that than I do. I ate lunch at the Lincoln restaurant at least once a week for almost ten years. Jake was there that whole time. Rumors - I was certain that Sussman was from Chicago. He wasn't the first person to bring pizza to OKC but he made it really popular. He owned or was connected with The Nomad and The Nomad II (still open on North May) and they still serve his style of pizza. I think it's really good. There was also a restaurant on Reno, just East of Meridian and I believe it was called "Sullivan's" that served Sussy's original style pizza. I believe Jake was Papa Dio's (Bonadio) brother-in-law. Bonadio's daughter, Candace(sp) Gideo, Jake's niece opened Papa's Little Italy on the I-35 service road at Hefner. I'm open to any corrections since I am 67 and slightly senile.

well dressed. I also remember there was a door from the restaurant which lead to a dark place where exotic dancers were. I "peeked"
every chance I got when my Grandmother was busy. I saw a beautiful lady on stage but she had on a blue "see through" evening gown.
I also remember the candy for sale at the cash register ! Cream mints, the little round ones with dark chocolate , some were dark
chocolate with orange filling and some were some kind of buttercream filling . They sold cigars as well. And of course, the food was
very good. Lots of deep red colors in a dim atmosphere.

I meant to say "Spaghetti Factory", do you think Mr. Samara might have plagiarized a little? Actually, it's good marketing if you can get away with it. Name recognition is really powerful. When you were "peeking" you were looking at the North part of restaurant/bar. That is what became the Prow Lounge. No women (well not many), several pool tables and a nice place to sit after work for a beer to wind down before going home. It was the working man's "Governer's Club". The Governer's Club was in Lincoln Plaza.

**** I believe you are correct...... it was more of a maple flavor and was my very favorite too ! Wish I knew if anyone still sells them.
I will look online at the VERMONT COUNTRY STORE ( they sell lots of candies from years ago )
