Was driving on I-44 at 5:44pm this evening as I crossed over I-40 I looked to the east and DT was reflecting the setting sunlight like a huge mirror glowing orange...it really was spectacular oy I wished I had my camera...
Thanks!
Sorry that I stole your spot, lol.
I really love the skyline from this position, Devon Tower fits in perfectly!
Two pics, same angle, yesterday after working the bridal show at the Cox Convention Center. I fear I'll have to lay on the ground to get a final height shot!
I took this today while traffic on I-40 was a little backed up, so I was stopping for several seconds.
I also took another drive-by video last week and I will get around to posting it soon.
There are a plethora of AWESOME photos of the tower on flickr! Just type "Devon Tower" and view most recent! I was on there for a good hour looking at them all.
I drive by Devon Tower everyday on my way to work, and the bigger it gets, the more it makes the rest of downtown look like crap...its going to show how out of place it will be...its massive, pics don't do it justice...
Hopefully, our professional team(s) don't get like theirs!
Yes, I drive directly past it everyday, and it looks 10 x bigger in person, now you can start to realize the true scale of it, pics, model, etc...doesn't give you that, I hope we build another tower soon to compliment it, because we are going to need it!
The window installers might have to slow down a bit. They are only a few floors below the netting now.
It is indeed a monster and I hope it will raise the bar for other future projects.
And once I-40 is moved, it won't stand out quite as much.
If Devon Tower reaches 1032 ft, it would be the tallest west of the Mississippi, outside of LA, I believe. Hope that is not a rumor.
Its probably been mentioned, (as I haven't read all 161 pages) but the thing that really freaks me out is thinking about that guy that climbs up the ladder to the control cab of that crane. Talk about being way out there, and up there. I don't know if I could do that. Especially when it is about 20 degrees with a 20 mph wind. And, what do you do when you need to take a restroom break because of all the hot coffee you are drinking to keep warm. Quite a trip for a restroom break. Just thinking.
