  1. Default 12.14.05 pics

Here are some pics I took at the game last night. For other relevant discussion surrounding some of these pics (I was questioned by a couple of OCPD guys for taking what they thought was an untoward interest in the Honeybees ... as if that's ILLEGAL ... see http://www.okchornetscentral.com/for...hp?p=3892#3892 )

I got to the arena early and thought it would be good to get a few pics with the arena pretty empty ... this one shows where I later took the other pics from ...

The Ford Center was lively, and it seemed to me that more were present than the official attendance of 17,490 ... lowest so far in regular season ...

Here's one of Desmond Mason at the free throw line ... he had a pretty good game, but he's not been so great at the free thrown line ...

Hugo got all dressed up ...

... and so did the Bees!

Doug, that really pisses me off that the OCPD pulled you from the game to ask you questions. Were you just trying to take pictures or were you actually talking to them? I feel a lawsuit coming on..it sounds like they were harrassing you! Why didn't you tell them you are an attorney? That might have scared them off a bit... well you handled it correctly but I have to say (and I would have said it to them) if the Honeybees don't want men gawking at them, they should put some clothes on.. see, I would have been in jail..good thing I wasn't there with you! We'd both be incarcerated! LOL

    Karrie, thanks,

I didn't get close enough to speak with the bees girls ... and I didn't intend to ... I was actually physically closer to them in some pics I took several games back ... the ones about which I think I said that "I got lucky". No, no lawsuit. That's dumb ... waste of time and energy and money unless its really about real damage (money) and not just inconvenience/ego damage/etc.

But, Karrie, if you think that PD people are impressed when talking with "a lawyer", guess again. Actually, they are right about that.

A lawyer possesses no "power" or "authority", even though a police person DOES.

Trust me ... police people are well aware of the distinction. I did mention that I was a divorce lawyer, however, but, as expected, it didn't mean anything, as it shouldn't (unless, of course, I'd be respresenting one of their spouses ... and that might have been a different story!)

Though it's not always a comfortable thing to do, I've certainly learned the truth of this:

There is a time and a place for everything. The corallary is that this opposite is likewise true. Pick your fights when you can win them, if you have a choice ... sometimes, you don't. But, if you do, keep your (my) mouth shut ... nothing good will come of doing the opposite, and quite possibly, something bad will.

For example, if I'd spouted off to the PD guy last night and asserted my "right" position ... give some guesses as to what would have happened next. Would I have seen the end of the great game last night? What else might have happened ... and if your imagination is not willing to go that far ... well all I can say is that you should expand your imagination. Think about it. DO NOT THINK for a minute that PD people are willing to have thier authority challenged unless it be by an equally compelling or greater force, such as a judge. Believe me, a "lawyer" is not such a force!

Today, I have the liberty of exploring the adventure through different means, such as here, but not only here. Trust me. Not only here.

There is a time and a place for everything.

I know Doug... I'm just outraged .. because I know you and your character and your intentions (to take pics) and no maybe the police do not, but still .. it infuriates me that they thought to pull their weight in this manner. And, yes you are right, like I said, you handled it well and enjoyed the end result of watching the game. The thing that bothers me is how they handled it.. if they were really concerned about the girls, put some security in place or something other than asking you to leave your seat..

I very much appreciate that, Karrie! Thanks a bunch!

I wondered whether I should even make a post about what occurred to me last night. I wondered about that for maybe ... a minute.

And, then, not knowing the correct answer, I just decided, in the words of Al Pachio in that most marvelous movie (Scent of a Woman), at the end where he looks into the assembled audienece and says, says, directly to the culpapable guys, the ones who'd really created the probelm, and looking directly at them, he said,

    Well f..k you, too!
... I then knew what I ought, at least, would do ... be candid, blunt, and not mince words. Al Pachio's characer was doubtless better that all of those things than I was in my reply. PLUS, he could marvelously dance the tango being blind!

OF COURSE, I would NEVER say anything along those lines ... NEVER ... NEVER ... never would say anything along those lines ... never ...

In the HornetsCentral forum, Homer Hornet said, in another context, if a particular reply reminded a poster of the relevance of his post to a river in Egypt. It was and is a great retort, and my reply is the same (as I made there).

I'd have ignored the cops. You weren't doing anything wrong. You could go down the list of the 'NBA fan code of conduct' or whatever that thing is and there wouldn't be one thing you were in violation of.

The only reason I'd see the PD's action as appropriate is if you were taking pictures of the Junior Buzzers or whatever the kids dance troupe is called. I mean hell, you could be one of the 'bees dads, for all that matters.

    Weak sauce by the OKCPD.

    Thanks, John.

It's kinda hard to ingore an OCPD guy, though. At least, I wasn't able to. Appreciate your kind remarks, though.
