That's just nasty sounding and wrong in more ways than I can count!

I have never liked okra as well.

After reading this post I had to try Rail Head chicken. It was really quite tasty, fresh and hot. They make it fresh and it takes about 20 minutes. I and the two others I dined with all enjoyed the flavor and freshness. Everyone agreed that it a worth to come back to place.

Update on Railhead - Unfortunately, it's gone downhill. The last few of times I've been there, the chicken is dry (seems like it is pre-cooked and put under heat lamps) and the BBQ has not been nearly as good.

I live about 3 miles from Railhead and have not been in a few months because the food has become progressively worse.

The fried chicken might have been better than Eischen's and the BBQ was better than Steve's Rib of the last few years. It's kind of a hole in the wall but definitely worth it.

Railhead is on Douglas just a little bit north of Waterloo.....and no, I have no affiliation with Railhead. I just live in the area and was thrilled to discover this place.
Funny you mention both Eischen's and Steve's in the same post. I've eaten several times at both and I'm convinced if you placed them in OKC nobody would pay them nearly the attention they get now. I find their food mediocre at best, but the atmosphere and drive to get to either do make for a fun evening. Used to ride my cycle to both and still eat at Steve's when I have court interactions going on in Grady County (which most recently was just a couple of weeks ago).

A year and a half ago I got some Railhead's meats to go. Turkey was some gross compressed stuff. Sliced brisket was too fatty for my liking (I rarely order bbq beef so maybe that's normal). I don't remember the sausage but, in all, it was pretty worthless. Oh, and they had a TIP receptacle at the cash register. I've wondered if the fried chicken was good.

As much as I didn't like it, the place always looks busy at lunchtime.

I liked that place to the north of Charter Oak, which closed a few years ago. Only went there a few times but always liked it. Alas, that was before I found Woodys on Hwy 33 in Guthrie. If I were to marry bbq, it would be Woody's.

I like the ribs at Woody's. The brisket is really tough.

Since this thread is technically about chicken, I've got to put a word in for the fried chicken at Red Prime. We ate there recently and I wasn't in the mood for a steak. I had the fried chicken, and it was superb. It's not an Eischen's copycat, just excellent in its own right.

I couldn't disagree more...we've been twice in the last few weeks and the fried chicken and the ribs were both great. The chicken was prepared fresh when ordered. We also love the potato wedges that were battered the same as the chicken. This is a fun evening drive and dinner that I would recommend to anyone.

Nothing better than Eischens chicken and okra. And if the wait is too long, their b-b-q sandwich isn't bad either.
