I drive downtown every night on my way home. Main street in the CBD and of course, Automobile Alley are lit to the hilt.

Yeah I'm not quite sure what Thunder is talking about... I'm not even sure Thunder knows what he/she is talking about. The only thing not lit up that usually is, is the Gardens... and well, It's kind of hard and pointless to light up DIRT!! Personally I would much rather see the Gardens revamped than see Christmas Lights on a few trees... I'm sure they'll make up for it next season.

One thing is different this year, the Oklahoma County Courthouse isn't decorated for the first time in my recollection. Budget crunch, I suppose, since they typically do a very nice job with their lights.

What is the CBD? I drove by downtown on I-40 and couldn't see any trees or buildings being lighted. Only saw a couple of trees in Bricktown.

Central Business District. You probably couldn't see the lights from the highway because they are between the buildings near ground level. Given everything that is going on right now, I would say that downtown is about as festive as it can be.

I know the Gardens' staff is already working on new light schematics for next year, and with the new LED technologies being installed in both the Crystal Bridge and outdoor grounds, next year's lights will be spectacular.

Here is a charming video which originated from an unattributed Power Point file. If you want that file, you can download it here. A much smaller You Tube version is below.

The Skirvin is always a popular Christmas destination in OKC. Here's a video about their holiday festivities this year.

I took mom to St. Anthony hospital last night and on the way there, I drove thru a part of downtown and discovered the very much hidden lights around, even the horses with carriages was decked with lights. Also, went thru the Automobile Alley, but it was not as advertised, since only spotty buildings were lighted. Took some pix around the St. Anthony hospital.

They lost a lot of their lights and outside power stuff in the trees after the ice storm and decided it would be too costly to bring it up to fire code.

Are you talking about the absence of county government displays, Cindy?

MWC is doing a great job with their Holiday Spectacular Lights, especially the light show which have expanded to include the mega tree. That required a complete rewiring (and they dumped the orange lights, Hallelujah). I bet the light show next year will be even bigger as they slowly buy more lights to add onto it. Most of the decorations is the same along with one or two new displays. Carriage rides was not available last night (and it would have made sense to make it available at this time...so close to Christmas). No one was out to pass away free cocoa, but maybe next year.

Here are the non-Devon-Tower pics I took last night to finish out my Christmas 2010 post. The Devon Tower pics, like the one below ...

... are posted in the Devon thread.

These were taken on December 9:

This one is up again with a different song than 2009, a medley that's a bit lighter. (I like this song better.) Enter going south on Graham, two blocks west of NW 23rd and Council Rd. They also have a drop spot near the end for collecting food for the Oklahoma Regional Food Bank.

Thanks, Cindy. To identify what you are replying to in a message, click the "Reply With Quote" option which clarifies what you are replying to ... which you intended to do. I hope that the county will get engaged in Christmas next year ... other than Myriad Gardens, it was one of the few downtown displays which featured multicolored lights instead of all white or some other single color and it was done very well.

Thanks for your kind comments, and those by you guys, Mike and Kevin.
