Thread: OKC A to Z on PBS

Default OKC A to Z on PBS

Does anybody plan to watch the documentary OKC A to Z by Jack Frank tonight on OETA? I watched his Tulsa A to Z documentary last year and really enjoyed it. He primarily focuses on relatively obscure things, so it should be interesting to see what he shows for OKC.

Here's an article that was in the OK Gazette about it.

Jack Frank did some interviewing and videoing at a work session of RetroMetro Okc a couple of months back with this project in mind. I missed the 7 pm showing but see that it will repeat at 10 pm tonight. He does great work.

I actually happened to stumble across it at the letter "E" and watched the rest. Excellent!

I surely hope that it will be played again. If I find out anything, I'll post here ... perhaps others will do the same.

Well, I watched it last night. I thought it was a really nice production. He again focused on mostly "obscure" things, which is really refreshing, since that's not the OKC you usually see.

Yeah, great program. Didn't know about Anne's chicken fry. The Christmas Hippo story was interesting. I asked Laura about it and she started singing the song! Apparently the story and the song has been passed along through down to the current generation of locals.

I knew about the BC Clark song because they made me play and record it on the bells donated by the Clark family at OCU. Ask people in Tulsa and they have no knowledge of it. Truly a local phenomenon.

Started around the same time...this stuff normally doesn't interest me but found that the wife and I were both trying to guess what he would cover for each letter

Stumbled upon it while flipping channels. I think we came in during "N". I wish we had seen the entire program. Hopefully they will air again. Maybe next time we will stumble in at A or B.

I love this show! It is not airing again on TV, but you can get a copy of the DVD at Walgreens (in OKC only), Full Circle Bookstore, Borders, Pops or online at www.okcatoz.com. I bought the DVD and it has bonus features that are really cool. It would make a great holiday gift for those who love OKC.

I love this show! My favorite part was when he talked about OKC being an old sonic boom testing site.

It is not airing again on TV, but you can buy DVDs for $19.99 at Walgreens (only in OKC), Borders, Full Circle Bookstore, Pops and online at www.okcatoz.com.
