Thread: Rooster's

  1. Default Re: Roosters

I thought I reviewed this place. I had good service, the chicken was slightly overdone, but OK. AWESOME sides (esp the okra [lil greasy but terrific] and the fired pickles [awesome, they were like quarteres pickle spears]). Price was as expected. Ain't Eischen's. But not bad to watch a ballgame.

Went there tonight. Food was better. Service was still pretty bad.

Default Did Roosters in Bricktown close down again?

Went to the last Thunder game. When we came out, it was closed down and black. Went across the street to Texadelphia instead.

Didn't know if they were just closed for the night, or closed for good.

    Do not know.
There are no reviews at urbanspoon since September of this year.
However, eataroundokc.com twitter had a couple of favorable tweets on 11/27.

I noticed they are open tonight (Friday 12/3/2010), looked like a decent crown and the music was playing loud.

Roosters is still open for business - and their chicken is still really good!

I agree about the chicken being good. It was too salty when they opened, although the flavor was really good, but they seem to have cut back on the salt.

By no means is this a for sure thing, but got a buddy that works for a real estate company in town who says Roosters is done. They are still open now, but they are definitely on their way out. Did you guys know that Roosters employees have to pay to park in the lot next to Roosters?

Ate there last night before the game. It was packed.

My mother was in getting a pedicure at Nails by Helen in OKC on Saturday. Helen's family owned the restaurant Roosters and she told my mom that they sold it recently because it was to much work to make so little of money. She didn't say who she sold to or what the plans for the restaurant were now. Anyone have any ideas?

It's now called Whiskey Chicks. That's all I know. Roosters was not well-run, IMO. In addition, they tried to be Eischen's, but couldn't duplicate the chicken. The first time I went, it was so salty it was inedible. The second time it was better, but if you're going to sell only chicken, you'd better have the best chicken east of Eischen's.

Slow service, flat beer, oversalted everything. I still went a few times due to proximity to Thunder games.

    Well, that's embarrassing.

I for one will NOT miss Roosters at all. I suspect that my feelings are the feelings of the majority. Bad food, bad attitudes equals closed business. As to its successor I have no interest. If they fail then I will not be negatively impacted at all.

Would be funny if they located next door to Toby Keith's

I recall the bartender at the Prohibition Room telling me that he was involved with a new Bricktown bar. He mentioned it would be where Roosters was. He told me the name, and I'm pretty sure I heard "Whiskey Chicks". If that's where he works now, I'm definitely gonna check it out despite a lame name. He made awesome cocktails and an amazing Whiskey Sour.

It is the bartender from The Prohibition Room and he does make EXCELLENT drinks. Those cucumber drinks are awesome.
