Would that mean we could expect to see "Snooki and The Situation" in Bricktown?

I can see it now, the new MTV premier of "Okie Shore"!

Oh God no! I've only finally lived down the "Okie Noodling" series. Okie Shore could really happen!

Why are we even talking about Hertz? That is just such an...OKC Talk line of thinking. LOL

A big negative for Enid, which is a really nice little town.

Yes, it would be devastating to Enid.

Rumor mill is just that....it's not going to be Hertz, and someone from Enid isn't going to move here. For Enid, no company would want to uproot all of their employees just to move to downtown OKC, where rent would be higher. There's nothing in it for them, and it would kill the economy in Enid. That's just not gonna happen. And Hertz, I still see no benefit for them consolidating here. Corporate is in NJ for a reason....they like it there. They aren't going to move...the only reason they have ever been here is for cheap labor for operations and call centers. There's a big difference there.

Heck, my office could fill the building by consolidating our buildings here in town...but again, what would we get out of it? Yeah we're all in one place...big whoopie. In the electronic world, that doesn't really matter. Plus, moving downtown is more expensive. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be downtown...the atmosphere is much more vibrant. It's also more of a pain to get to/from work each day...and i'd have to pay to park instead of parking for free, 50 ft from the door.

Plus, didn't Nichols say he was getting someone from out of state to take over. Hertz isn't out of state...neither is Enid. Rumors are just that. Just chill out and we'll see before long. The building will be sold again when the new company is ready to announce it....just as Devon gets ready to vacate.

On the bright side, they could use some of the same folks for each show.

I believe it is Continental. They have a very hard time getting engineers and geologists to move to Enid. And for an oil and gas exploration and production company those are the most important positions to continue to make money. They have engineers that live in Edmond and drive every day to Enid because their families won't move to Enid. Their CEO lives here in OKC. Many of their executives are from OKC or Dallas or Houston. It would be really tough on Enid and their employees there but it is probably what is best for the company.

Any chance it is Boeing? Moving a lot of people to OKC already and they said they aren't through announcing moves. It would be great to have an aerospace segment firmly in our market. I know Chicago is their headquarters, but they have many divisions.

Bomber - according to your logic no company would ever change locations - ever. How do you know Hertz likes NYC? BTW, they aren't even in NYC, they are in Park Ridge, NJ. Granted it is still part of the greater NYC area but they are 30 miles from Central Park and much closer to rural New York. 30 miles in NYC is a lot farther than 30 miles in Central Oklahoma.

I read that comment this morning. There is a good chance it is Boeing, atleast their military division.

OKC and Tulsa don't need to cannabalize each other. We need to look at smaller regional cities in adjacent states, places like Wichita, Springfield, Little Rock, Amarillo, etc. and go after those companies. I know Tulsa has tried to lure Spirit Aerosystems (former division of Boeing) due to Tulsa having a large engineering/manufacturing presence for them. We need to see more activity like that.

And while moving Continental would hurt Enid, it wouldn't be as big a blow as many think. They would likely still keep many of the operations there because it is in the middle of one of their drilling areas, and would just move the executive positions to OKC. For a company like Continental that would likely only be around 100 people if that, but with more growth possibilities in OKC than in Enid. It has already been mentioned that Harold Ham (Continental CEO) lives in Nichols Hills and has given large amounts of money to OKC causes, specifically the OU Health Sciences Center. He has stated he wants OU to be a center for diabetes treatment and research.

I wouldn't have even speculated Boeing, probably still pretty unlikely for this particular building, but:

Boeing is continually looking at ways to save money, including the option of moving more divisions to lower-cost cities like Oklahoma City, Hendrickson said.

"We are not done announcing," he said.

"We have a lot more coming up."

It's CLR. This has been in the works for a loooooong time. They cannot compete for and retain the technical talent needed by staying exclusively in Enid. As previously mentioned, I would imaging that most field personnel located in and around Enid will stay as well as a lot of the accounting/admin folks. Harold hamm would not leave Enid high and dry.

Thanks for the clarrification. Since I don't know anyone in the business the only place I hear it from is OKCTalk. If it was CR, why would they want to keep it a secret, especially if many of their emplpyees are already commuting to Enid or they are finding it hard to lure employees to Enid? It seems like an annoucement that they are moving to OKC would be welcomed news to many of their employees and potential employees. Why keep that a secret?

Well....not really. Most everybody in places like Park Ridge use public transportation to go to the city. Trains leave every half hour for Hoboken Terminal and then every 5 minutes or so into Penn Station. It's a one-stop, too. So, your time to Manhattan, via one of the several public transportation options, is around 30 minutes. And you can read, play with your iPad or do whatever while you get there. If I was in Bergen County right now, I could be in Manhattan before you get in your car and get to Norman from North OKC.

With the above said, I still like your idea. Speculation is always fun and I like the idea. I can't imagine Continental moving their people down the road from Enid to downtown OKC leaving behind a devastated Enid. That would be a sorry, selfish and shameful act of in-state betrayal to a community that helped build your company. I can't see it. IF it were to happen - that would tell me a lot about them....not sure we'd want 'em.

Also I would ask, Why would Ford Price need to purchase the building first?

Devon/Nichols is well connected to Continental/Ham and I would think they could agree upon a sale without needing a third party involved.

In fact I think anyone in state would go directly through Devon for the purchase and not need the third party Ford Price.

Makes me think more about an out of state company now.

Maybe since Price is a private company, he can hide the details longer than say a public company who has stockholders to answer to? That is my only logical reasoning that they would need to sell to him instead of dealing directly like they have with the Colcord and other various projects.

How about this for a logical reason: It will be up to two years before you can move. Employees that might not want to move to OKC start looking for other jobs and start leaving for those jobs. It will probably be harder to replace those employees knowing that a move is coming. Or, how about they want to sell their current building. If potential buyers know they are moving they might want to pay less knowing the company needs to sell the building. One needs to see this like an owner would instead of that of a wage earner.

Great for OKC and downtown, sad for Enid.

Boy Devon has done a world of good for downtown. Just can't give them enough credit.
