I know at Barcelona's Agbar Tower, they have an LED lighting system which allows for thousands of colors for any one pane of glass and I'm really hoping Devon is installing something similar. It allows them to create virtually any type of graphic on the building and even moving images. Imagine the tower all lit up in Thunder colors! (Or even spelling out Thunder or creating a 850' image of Kevin Durant!)

OMG.... if it has lighting like that, I just don't what I would do with myself, I would be downtown every night just gazing at it! The tower is iconic, but with that lighting it would be over the top!

If it is lighted like this...it will be as successful as the Los Angeles Triforium

If it does light like that its a good thing they are moving interstate a bit further away.

If they do have such a lighting system, I'm sure any displays would be limited... I'm sure the majority of time the tower wouldn't have moving, flashing images.

But would be really, really cool to have that capacity.

Imagine the skyline images... And I hope it would inspire other buildings downtown to upgrade their external lighting as well.

Pete, that was what I mentioned earlier when I first saw pictures of the glass panels going up. I immediately thought the thin white glass tube structures must have something to do with lighting. They certainly aren't structural.

Someone wanted some different angles and further away shots so I figured I'd toss this one up. Hopefully it looks allright as I'm having to post this through my iPhone.

I'd like to try and get some shots from the south, but this shot hasn't really been posted yet since the tower has only been visible for a couple weeks here.

Yep, it's tall enuf to be noticed now from all angles, I-35, I-44, I-240...you're driving along and glance towards DT and your brain goes, "hey, something's different." My favorite views are from the Fort Smith and Amarillo junctions...maybe the view from Fort Smith junction is my favorite it makes all of DT appear taller.

Looks like the first glass panels are starting to go up on the 3rd floor of the podium building, just west of the stairwell.

It also looks like it's a less reflective material than used elsewhere:

    Pete,

This is actually some duct work that is being done on the 4th floor right now. It does look like that from the Cam though.

I'll get some pictures during lunch to post later.

Not quite - as mentioned from my previous thread - can't see it driving down 235 yet - til it gets higher than the Oklahoma Tower.

Awesome! Really starting to look like a building now.

Even by the conservative pace of a floor every eight days, this will be the tallest structure in OKC sometime in February.

Notice, also that they've already poured half the columns on the south face of my pic for the forms to go up for the 18th floor and as we speak, all of the 18th floor forms have been put in place. That's less than 8 days my friend. They're on a roll!

18? Kinda hard to count them now but I only came up with 16 or 17 (yes I'm counting the 1st big floor as 2).

17th was just finished and they are working on 18 now.

The ceiling of the podium, level with the floor of the tower is #6. Count the floors from there. We've had this discussion over and over...

Here's a visual I worked on to help you out:

Sorry Pete, but technically, the forms for 18 are in place and the columns for 19 are getting started. Not being rude here. Just trying to squelch the argument of what floor is really what floor.

wow! Dulahey - your pics are AWESOME. Devon is already starting to make an impact.

the 2nd pic really shows the density of downtown Oklahoma City.!!! Maybe you should post it on the national forums too.

Special thanks to OKCis4me and everyone else who have provided wonderful pictures of various prospectives. Thanks for taking the time and effort!!

Dare I say, OKC's downtown is quite pretty - especially with this gem of a building growing up before our eyes. ......
    Oklahoma City, the RENAISSANCE CITY!

    I have another question.

From the renderings it looks as if the skyscraper will be surrounded by water. Is anybody worried about mosquito and fly infestations?

I ask this because the water looks like it isn't fluid, stationary water and lights with CO2 emitters brings. ............

    Anybody have ideas?

I assume it'll be like the Bombing Memorial. I haven't been there in a while but I never noticed any bug problems. I'm sure it does move and gets filtered enough that it isn't a problem.

I realize we've had the discussion - my issue was I'd never paid attention to floor the podium goes to - that does help - its hard to count the floors below the podium since you cant see them, but if you know it goes to 6, you are right, its pretty easy.

This is something I'd expect Thunder to say, not you as much as you've traveled globally. You know the best and brightest in the world are working on this project and have experience building many world class skyscrapers across the globe, not to mention, world class landscape architects are involved. How many corporate or public fountains in NYC, Seattle, Chicago have you seen with mosquito infestations?

The Mosquitoes are part of the building's security - if you don't wear repellent then you get attacked :-P

As mentioned above, I'm sure the surrounding water area will be just like at the Memorial. There, there is a definitive edge where the water cascades off the black marble surface down below into a filtration system. Without taking a close look you don't notice because of the lighting around the edges at night or during the day because the gap is so small.
