The only skyscraper ever hit by an F5 tornado is still standing and in use.

By definition a skyscraper is at least 500 ft tall!So by definition OKC only has 1 skyscraper until The new Devon tower reaches 500 ft,then OKC will have two!on the other hand Tulsa has 4 towers over 500 ft!
Can we get back to the subject at hand and not speculate?! I asked a question earlier which clearly got overlooked because everyone is actually feeding Thunder responses to second grade questions...
My question earlier and it's still relevant today cause nothing has changed is...
WHY IS THERE NO NETTING ON THE EASTERN HALF OF THE BUILDING between the 12th and 13th floors?
Thanks..
Any word on the 13th Floor--is there one so named?
Looking at the OKC Sky Line cam you can see the flash of at least two welders. One is welding the stairs in the podium building the other the black objects west of the tower.
There is absolutely no official defintion of how tall a skyscraper must be other than a very tall building with many floors. Check the dictionary.
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/skyscraper
http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dict...ish/skyscraper
http://www.macmillandictionary.com/d...can/skyscraper
and where dmoor did you see this definition?
I always saw a highrise was a building over 12 floors or 100 feet that rises into a skyline and a skyscraper anything over 262 feet that changes a skyline and a supertall skyscraper anything over 300 metres/986 feet.
Based on this, I would say OKC has a number of skyscrapers, much more than just Chase. [Devon, Chase, FNC, City Place, OK Tower, SandRidge, Leadership, BOK, and possibly Mid America should all be considered downtown skyscrapers. I'd call Valliance, Founders, Union, and Classen suburban skyscrapers].
Oklahoma City, the RENAISSANCE CITY!
Well I must have worded my post wrong here is a Wiki answers stating it has to be atleast 150meters! http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_tall_d...s_a_skyscraper and this link say's there is no definition, but it also say's 80 meters and sticks out or pertrudes from it's surroundings! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skyscraper so I wasnt wrong for posting what I did but I was wrong for saying "by definition"!Sorry!I like the the answer where OKC has more skyscrapers!I read somewhere OKC has 16 buildings over 250 ft tall excluding The new Devon tower so it's now 17!
And then there is SSC's classification of highrises, skyscrapers and supertalls's!by this classification OKC and Tulsa have have only 1 skyscraper a piece, but I forget how tall Tulsa's CityPlex tallest tower is so Tulsa may have two by SSC's classification! So who's right/Wrong?or is there a right/wrong? http://www.skyscrapercity.com/
They moved the crawler crane further east in preparation for steel installation.
Took these Saturday evening.
Great images and fantastic evening light that really makes the buildings stand out in contrast to the sky! Well done Metro!
No matter how many renderings, seeing real photos of that huge structure rising is still amazing.
It's really hard to comprehend how much this building with change downtown and the skyline, especially for those of us that are a bit older and haven't seen a significant change in 30 years.
forms being placed for the next floor.
I've got some pics I took yesterday afternoon. I just have to downsize them so I can load them to my photobucket via my phone..
Nice pics Metro. I took some from that side of town too...
Is there a certain wind speed that they declare to dangerous and stop elevated work? What about the tower cranes? Seem to me a day like today would be very dangerous.
Well, Oklahoma Tower and Leadership Square were early-mid 1980's buildings and they did change the skyline - but I hear ya, no changes in 25 years, until now.
Oklahoma City, the RENAISSANCE CITY!
I don't understand why people dismiss Renaissance Hotel, it is like 14 stories plus the glass top. That's nothing to write off, and if you notice, it does stand out in the skyline from most angles, much better than the parking lot that was there before.
Oklahoma Tower was finished in 1982 and Corporate Tower in 1980. Mid-America Tower (Devon's current home) was complete in 1981; Leadership Square in '84.
And the hotel was a nice addition but hardly changed our skyline.
