How is the car coming along picker?
Sadly, I recently sold my 1965 Pontiac LeMans. We only have room for 3 cars in our driveway and garage (I won't park a car in the street). I just bought a 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track supercar, and on top of the Le Mans, my company vehicle, and the wife's car, one had to go. I got 9 years of enjoyment out of it. Didn't get nearly as much for it as I put into it, but you never will.
On the other hand, I'm looking for a long private straightaway where I can (legally) see how close to 170 mph (as indicated on the speedo) I can take the Genesis Coupe. Only had it up to 130 so far.
That's horrible news.

The Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. You can do it. A friend
of mine set a record in a rented Oldsmobile on at a certain
speed on a certain day. You might do well to check it out.
I think the car almost hit 110 on the speedo. Maybe it was
100. I don't remember. But he set the record for that
car on that particular day. LOL!
I'm going to go today and probably a few more times. Anyone
wanna meet me there?
39th International Ford Retractable Club
under way in southwest Oklahoma City
It's at the Wyndham Gardens Hotel at 2101 S. Meridian.
From 9am until 5pm. Ends Friday.
HMMM.......(maybe the solstice will pass for a futuristic ford)
Hey dude, you have a good looking ride in that little red car....hopefully it won't pass as a Ford....Besides, your wife looks good in that car.....Do you remember the Fiero???? that's one you don't see at all anymore....Always wanted one of them but to no alas.....
Went to the International Retractable Ford Club show. The cars
are outstanding. 57-59 Fairlanes & Galaxies. All Skyliners. Y'all
need to drive by. Since they're outside you might be able to
sneak a peek in the evening while it's not so hot.
Here's the Skyliner club
I bought a 1948 one owner Chevrolet ton and a half flat bed yesterday. I has been "Barn Kept" ALL it's life and has been used on a farm in the panhandle. Paid $350.00 for it.....It is slick General78....thought I'd let you "drool" a little. My oldest son has already laid claim to it though......It's strange that NONE of the windows were broken and only has 40,000 plus miles on it......No Rust...just how rare is that????
That's a great find. You tell us about these cars and where they
are but none of us do anything about it. I want a 40 Ford Coupe.
But it's got to be cheap. Like $350! Wake me up. I'm dreaming!
How about a 40 coupe street rod that's Candy Apple Red? Or
Jet Black? Oh yeah! I'd pay up to $700 for one of those.
I know where the car is but, it's a little more than what you actually want to spend....It's located about S.W. 1st and Janeway on the west side of the street. Dark Blue with a beautiful flame job on it. I know where they are I just don't want to mess with them. I keep telling '78 about a '59 chevy two post 210 series that he can get for about $200.00 and a little work.....No show....oh well, it's still sitting there....How about a '57 Buick convertible sitting in a wheat field in North western Oklahoma???? I even told you about the old truck....pretty clean ride....My son is going to use it in his business....Now, a '57 Chevy BelAire 2 dr. hardtop...in Questa, New Mexico...guy is using it for a chicken coupe.....???? sheesh ....what is he thinking?????...'36 Chevrolet Pickup in a warehouse in Enid......Complete truck....Hmmm
You must be headed to South fork....We gotta talk face to face....we go four-wheeling on the south side of the Rio Grande and up in the mountains...Lots of trout...Mean while as you come into Questa from the South (Red River) at the first bend before the light look up to your right. On the left side there are a bunch of old fords there on your left at about the same spot. That old town is full of old cars. If you go through Springer, New Mexico you'll go crazy at the old cars back in the towns neighborhoods...especially West of the School Grounds....Call me....
you know, this has always been a "fun" thread. So, what can you tell US about your teen age years of cars that you remember most?...My first car cost me $65.00 (probably 45.00 too much) but, it was a 1951 Chevrolet and the Village Idiot (2 years younger than I am) and I thought we had the "Coolest" ride in south OKC...However, did I tell you that it had ACME Cleaners on the Side?... That didn't matter though .... My mom (coolest in town) would let us drive it up and down our Block....Everyone knew to stay out of the way.....Boy, was that Fun....How about you....Guys and Gals....anyone remember anything about their old cars?
I drove a 1959 Peugeot 403. It was an awesome car.
I know you're all in awe and are wondering, "what in the heck is that?"
A four cylinder hemi with 4 on the tree, a sun roof and reclining seats if
you had a couple of hours.
When we bought it, for $175 in 1968, it was a light primer color with a very
sophisticated primer gray passenger door. It may have only been in 40 or
50 wrecks which explains why it was in such good condition. It would run
2 weeks on $2 of gas.
One day my back stabbin' best friend and I were calmly cruising south on
S. Agnew. Suddenly a car load of girls, traveling north, insanely started
honking their horn and madly waving and yelling at us. I immediately knew
they were Southeast High cheerleaders because all the other girls on the
south side wouldn't have anything to do with us. At any rate, I made a
beautiful U-Turn in the intersection of S.W. 29th & S. Agnew. while
totally ignoring the red light, and proceeded after them. We must have
been going 50mph! My back stabbin' best friend said, "hey, there's a cop
on our tail!" Knowing he was full of it, because that was his line every
10 minutes, I proceeded after the dames and the first possible date in
months. I managed to get the super car up to nearly 60mph!
I looked in the mirror.
There was a cop on our tail.
"Why didn't you say there was a cop on our tail?"
I cut through a gas station, the brakes weren't that good, and eventually
pulled over and waited. I used the curb to stop the car. At one point I looked
into the rear view mirror and the partner, I think it was Adam Reed, was
shooting us with his finger gun at us and laughing. You know, bang bang
you're dead. He was laughing really hard.
While we were going through the usual procedure the cop eventually asked
the question that would haunt me for the rest of my life,
"What type of car is this?"
I said, "Peugeot"
The cop said very indignantly, "WHAT DID YOU CALL ME?"
"Honest, occifer! *gasp* *horrors* *envisioning jail time* the car is a
Peugeot! Look on the hood!" The partner continued shooting his finger at
us.
He said he did me a favor and only gave me a ticket for negligent driving
because it was cheaper. Yeah, it was cheaper but it cranked the insurance
up a couple of notches.
I was really dumb.
We never found those girls. I keep thinking Soonergirl26, Tall Girl,
Rowdy55 and Southsidegirl were in the car. Pennyquilts was probably riding
her horse somewhere near McGinnis.
My second car was a 1955 Pink & Gray Chevrolet Belair.. the Village Idiot and I put many miles on that old thing. Had a wreck in it...just knocked the fender down so We took the insurance money (other guy's fault) and bought a new fender and put it on the car. Hmmmm...then the hood ornament came off and then we found out we were pretty good paining model cars but the real thing just didn't look the same with about thirty cans of black primer from TG&Y.....It still got us where we needed to go.....You know there were some girls that lived in Del City....but, that's another story... then came the 1958 Ford Thunderbird....now, that was a cool ride....No Primer and leather (I think it was naugahyde) interior and air-conditioner...(didn't work but, still had one).....many, many stories about that car....
Just bought a 1948 plymouth special deluxe just like my first high school car. It runs but needs brakes. Im fixing it now. I have my second car too, 1957 chevy that Im restoring. I also have a 1956 chrysler, first year of hemi and fins. I bought the 1955 ford red and white that sat in front of Mcdonalds on Nw 23 and Penn. How is that for cars. Ronald Mcdonald car is getting a new engine, I'm going to take it to parades. Maybe someone can make me a Ronald costume. Can you see me getting out of that car looking like him. Haha
