No wonder why much of the United States views Okies as a bunch of Hicks! To think that our tourism department is putting out this cr@p. What are they thinking?????

The spelling and grammatical errors in the new 2005 Annual Event Guide make us look like a bunch of uneducated idiots. And the pictures of the cow paddy throwing competitions and the Confederate battle flags and war re-enactment pictures make us look like a bunch of racist hicks! Guys, this isn't someone outside of the state making us look this way. This is our very own tourism department, that's supposed to be selling our state to tourists.

Argh! When will this state ever learn! It just goes to show how backwards many Okies really are.

Man, $30,000 would pay half of my current student loan debt off! Shucks!

LOL! Yeah, most med students complete medical school about $140,000 in debt. See, you can't work during medical school, so they give you enough in loans, not only to cover tuition, but also to cover living expenses. Most of us take out about $30,000 a year, half of which goes to tuition. Tuition at OU College of Medicine this year is about $14,500!

Everyone talks about how bad outsourcing is.

Okay Oklahoma, it's time we outsourced our tourism brochures!

Cool Re: Yay, Oklahoma made CNN.com's front page!

Copy and layout approval still has to be inside the organization... I bet they can spell oops.

Obviously, these problems must be more widespread than we thought. I was reading through the 2004 Oklahoma Travel Guide this evening, and noticed several errors.......and this was probably after editing. What kind of message is this giving to out-of-state corporations?

A standard rule for publication design is that the level of mistakes are directly correlated to the size of the press run.

    Good proof readers are people who actualy look at - e v e r y - l e t t e r - in a word. Tough job, I've only known a few people who can do this well.

Letting embarrasing pictures in, is more of a problem because the person at the top who had to decide to dump the press run, didn't get to see the layout before it was printed.

    Bad organizational mistake.

Count me out.....apparently, I can't even spell buffalo right....I mispelled it in my post regarding the buffalo statues! LOL! Of course a simple typo but a mistake anyways!

LOL! That's definitely a kick in the head alright! Not only is this embarassing to our state but its costing us money that we could invest somewhere else. Just think how many text books $30,000 would buy. Since the schools districts buy in bulk, you could probably get about 1,000 text books for that price.

I predict that heads will not roll as a result of a very basic organizational problem.

This is really just a turf, or reporting snafu that didn't get high enough up the foodchain before being okayed.

LOL! Yeah, guess books wouldn't help many Okies. Hmmmm......$30,000 might buy a good load of manure! Use it for fertilizer....that will help our farm economy out! Hey, maybe our first OKC Talk meeting can be a cow chip throwing contest! LOL!
