Thread: What's the story with North Pole City?

Default What's the story with North Pole City?

The "For Sale" sign has been gone for some time now, but I couldn't find the original thread here where its location/relocation was discussed. If that property sold, I may have missed the transaction in the paper...or the purchase of a new property.

Does anyone know if they are still going to open at the same location [SW 44th & I-44] or another one?

The old thread/article talked about them moving to Penn Square Mall area. Not sure where they'd go unless the vacant Bed and Bath store in Belle Isle.

I think the story was they were going to try to sell their current location and move closer to where more of their customers lived (and they mentioned the Penn Square area as a strong possibility). But my guess is they didn't have much luck selling their property.

Not exactlly prime real estate there.

Definitely not prime real estate there!!! In fact, the building lacks everything to make it a 'cool' place to shop...but it is convenient. Can think of a number of empty buildings where their special merchandise would be well-served, but suspect that the rents or purchase prices of such other locations have made other sites untenable.

I was in before last Christmas and asked the lady where they were thinking of moving. She said with the ecomony going south, they weren't going anywhere until they sold their building.

You should tell her next time you go there that our economy is still going strong. Of course it will be slow the rest of the year...cuz that kind of store start to pick up after Halloween till Christmas.

Thunder, there is a difference between retail traffic and being able to sell the building/property of a particular location. Even though it is right off the highway, it is pretty much smack dab in a residential neighborhood. Not much other retail within sight. Not sure what would be a good candidate. Having a giant For Sale sign out front it probably isn't helping their traffic since many probably think they are out of business. They really need to make that clear that the only the property is for sale and the store is still open.

The For Sale sign is gone; has been for several weeks. Never saw a "Sold" across it, so I suspect they are staying put for another season. They 'should' be putting out a banner soon as to when they will be opening--IF they are staying there again this year.

Hmm. We went by there at least three times this past week, and no sign...unless they took it down to mow?? Or perhaps they've moved it, and I was too busy watching traffic [even though I was the "back seat driver" ] and didn't see it?

The For Sale sign was definitely there last weekend but went by there today it is definitely NOT there. LOL

Don't guess it really matters when it came down, it still leaves us with the questions: (1) did it sell (2) did they take it off the market (3) is the business still open?

There is a paper sign taped to the front door that says they are closed for inventory/remodeling...but don't know how recent it is. Their website says the same thing (NorthPoleCity.com). Seems they usually closed for vacation at some point during the summer but may be mistaken.

I love North Pole City. Talked to someone in there not long ago. Building is for sale. They will build a new one when and if that one ever gets sold. Until then its business as usual for them. I just wish they didnt shut down as long as they do. I have alot of birthdays/events to shop for and I always finds something in there. They would have alot more of my money if I didn't have to shop elsewhere when they are shut down. The location will make it a difficult sale for them.

Is this the same David Green behind Hobby Lobby?

Would be awesome if they moved to the downtown area. Christmas stores tend to thrive in touristy areas, and I bet NPC would do fairly well in Bricktown....would provide some much needed retail to the area and be a great tourist shop. And, the winter downtime for most retail in Bricktown would not be a problem for NPC.
