When was Jefferson Davis built?
When was Jefferson Davis built?
June 3rd, 1808:................
Oh:....I was just doing my homework for you.......
Let me know when you're going. That way we can both get arrested
and make the headlines. I have a discount coupon for bond service
from the yellow pages. I'll find one for you, too. It'll be fun until
we get separated after they book us. Not that I know what happens
in these cases. I hope they aren't serving mashed potatoes.
Would you call the day you want to go and find out what's on
the menu? You'll thank me later. Not that you really want to
know. But you'll still thank me.
Not true! '64 is delusional, because of Loritab, but we won't get
into that. If you can't afford to take Soonergirl26 on a first class
flight to NYC ($1,200 each), take her to the dressing tier of the
Metropolitan Opera ($800) then dine her at the 21 Club (which
will cost you $200 EACH unless she wants wine) then fergitit.
I did that for Prunette 10 years ago. We're still paying for it. I
haven't got the nerve to ask Soonergirl26 for a date. Besides
Prunette would shoot me in the head and become Soonergirl26's
best friend. Soonergirl26 has no intentions of being my best
friend because the limit of my credit card is maxed out.
Ouch. And she's so pretty, too. Are Tall Girl is available...
or Southsidegirl or PennyQuilts are available? From what I've
heard there's no need to even try.
Prunepicker:.....you should go and get a brick out of Jeff Davis school for Soonergirl26.....as small as she is she could get through the broken windows but she shouldn't have to....."YOU CAN DO IT"....
Are there any loose bricks or do I need dynamite?
It would be cool to go in there.... but I would be scared!!!!! Those pictures I saw on Abandoned Buildings didn't make it look too appetizing to be in there!! So I'll just stick with my memories of the place!!
I went to SE today and the principal gave me a tour of the school and showed me what they are doing to renovate it. I took over 50 pictures.

I am attempting to find a concerning the construction of Jefferson Davis Elem. School with little luck. I have located stories concerning its progress, but no date as to when building began.
Address was originally S.E. 52nd and Sprow Ave. Oklahoman/1937
April 9, 1930, Oklahoman; A naming of schools is reported. Taft JH, Jackson JH, Stand Waite, and Jefferson Davis all named. No mention again as far as construction. Davis is often mentioned as the oilfield school.
I found an article dated 9-18-31 that stated that students had been going to school for 4 days and the building inspectors came because the 8-room building was not finished.
~~~
While I was searching the Oklahoman archives I also found out something I didn't know. There was a Webster Junior High built in 1920 at 1200 N. Lindsay, it existed until 1960 when it became Moon Junior High. The current Webster Middle School on S. Shields was opened in 1964 (I do remember that).
~~~
Drove by this evening. The addition to the east end of the building was gone, and looking north to south you can see through one side to the other. I try to find red bricks which often have the location of the brickyard listed on them. Have to return when more of the exterior is pulled down
Just did a search for Webster Junior High on Google and came
up with Doug's Blog. There are some photos, too.
I remember Webster opening. We thought it was way out
there from S.W. 63rd & Miller. But that's only because it was.
