I knew from family members that at one time 29th was brick. Of course at one time 25th (Commerce) was a major road into the business district of Capitol Hill. I have no facts to back that claim, but it is possible.

Check out the pics on this website if you haven't been to it before. Some of you probably have seen these. Click on the historic photos. There are several.
Shows 25th when it was dirt and the streetcars.

With all the Southside memories available....I think the 2010 Lightning Creek Flood should be remembered by us all. I can remember when it would get out of it's banks back in '53.....about the time Prunepicker was born...it was tough then but I shutter to think the tragedy that would have happened if the City hadn't done what they have done....100 year flood?????Hmmmm the old folks used to talk about it.....

Alright all of you Generals, Redskins and Spartanettes. Here's
a trivia question that I discovered today, thanks to Mom
and her marvelous instruction. Ain't she great? Notice that
    I didn't say ain't she swe... fergitit!

    Lest I traverse worse...

What was the original nickname of U.S. Grant? I about fell over.
Hint! It's not the Generals. Another hint! It's not the
    Confederates, rebels or Yankees.

I liked going to the hobby shop on S.W. 59th. I'd drool over
the cool slot cars and that incredible track. I always wanted
my own slot car to race at the track. When I finally got a
car via mail the slot car tracks in the city disappeared. I
never got to race my Cox La Cucaracha.

Y'all be sure to run your antivirus. Mine just removed another 48.
They were all in the java. If your computer acts suspicious or has
suddenly slowed down, run the scan.

Dont forget Buchanan's Supermarket at 59th and Western where the large pawn shop is now. There was also a smaller grocery store in the Capitol Hill area where my family used to take eggs from our farm when I was young. I can't remember the name or exact location but I know that a woman who worked there eventually married my grandfather after my grandmother died.

Does anyone know what year Grant had it's first graduating class? I don't!! Was wondering what grades it was when it first opened in 1953? Also, what years did it cover what grades??????????? Have tried to look it up but had no luck!! Need to know where I can get an article telling all of this.... Surely USG60 would know or even Gen64!!
