Southside Pier 1

I noticed last night driving by the complex Pier 1 used to be in on the southside, that it is totally vacated! Does anyone know if any others planning on closing?

I heard this location was becoming a half price book store.

Think that was the only one in the metro closing. Went in art the 20% off level and they were still overpriced and didn't find anything that I was interested enough in to go back when prices had been lowered to something reasonable (and hoping that someone else hadn't bought it already). Used to love Pier 1 years and years ago, you could get import stuff for dirt cheap prices.

The clerk at the store next door told me that Pier One was outbid (??) on their lease by Half Price Books.

There's now a big Half Price Books banner on the building. Also, according to a note on the coupons I received in the mail today, it is due to open in August.

There you go Southside, you guys finally got a Bookstore! Way overdue, but that is good news.

Very excited about this! I love HPB, but it's a long drive to the northside. I've found some great deals there, like a book I've searched for for years for $6, that's worth easily $130.
