Thread: Texadelphia

    Bricktown3 Texadelphia

The site where Lit was located in the Centennial in LBT is going to be a Texadelphia. I've personally never eaten at one, but I'm assuming it's a deli. That's one type of restaurant that's underrepresented in Bricktown so I hope it's a good one.

Texadelphia? Not a deli, its a sandwich/grill and sports bar specializing in "philly cheese steaks" with a Texas twist, whatever that means. And its meh... not too excited about this one.

I don't know if I'd call it a deli, it's more like a Chili's type place, but they specialize in cheesesteaks. There is one in Norman by OU.

Texadelphia is not going to be one of those places that just wows you with their food, but it's a great place to go still. I just graduated from OU and am living downtown and am really excited about T-Delph coming to Bricktown. They have good drink specials and was a great place in Norman to go watch games. One thing about Texadelphia that made it popular was the outdoor patio that used to be and is starting to get back to the place to be when the weather is nice. I don't really see any space for them to put a patio outside though which is unfortunate. One thing that T-Delph used to do back in the day was outside concerts in their parking lots. It would be great if they could find a way to get those going again and I've mentioned to Manny before that I would help do whatever to make this happen. More and more OU students are starting to live in Bricktown and hopefully this increase in former students will be able to bring recognition to T-Delph and allow them to make a name for themselves.

This is a good add. I think it'll make it.

Is this the gourmet deli that was referred to in "more new stuff" thread?

  7. Default Re: Texadelphia

It's not a gourmet deli. It's a philly cheese steak place with great beer specials.

It's popular down here, started in Austin in 1981. I like it.

No patio space? They have the whole plaza out front there, AND the north side of the building. Should be plenty of options for outdoor entertainment and tables. I'm sure they'll have to share some of those outdoor tables with Sonic/Falcones, but they're first come first served anyways. Plenty of room for more tables too.

That's great. I drove by and just glancing while I was driving didn't see any space but that is good news.

meh, maybe after consuming a bucket or two of beers. apparently its hip in texas.. been to the one in Norman a few times...

Come to think of it, and i'm not sure if things have turned over, but the same people that operate 747 on campus corner originally operated the tecksadelfia on lindsay in Norman. some frat dudes from texas with deep pockets backing them. I'm out of the loop these days...

    try it at least!

Yep! Maybe not the place you'd sit around all night unless a good game were on....it would do really well in the Rooster's space if it had gone in there.

    Default Texadelphia in Bricktown

NW corner of the Centennial per the DOK yesterday, had not seen it posted. Since the other is near OU, this may be catering to the ACM lunch crowd?

Could be. I ate there once when I was a student there and i really didn't like it, but some people swear by it.

The one in Norman appears to have minimal traffic these days. EVERY time I'm by the Norman location, 2 or 3 cars max in the lot.

If you are a fan of true philly cheesesteaks (regardless of where you are in the Geno's vs. Pat's debate) you will be disappointed at Texadelphia. A place for a beer and a snack - maybe. A great cheesesteak - no.

A little off topic, but Texadelphia didn't make this list - place in Enid did...

Seeing as I'm likely not going to make it to Philly anytime in this, or any other, lifetime, I can't wait. I love the Texadelphia sandwiches, "authentic" or not.

Great addition to the Bricktown mix. Hope they succeed.

Food is all a matter of personal preference, I prefer the "Texas Cheesesteak" over a "true Philly Cheesesteak" anyway, I would take Texadelphia over Pat's or Geno's any day, just what I prefer. Just like I prefer Tex-Mex to "authentic Mexican" food. The "authentic Mexican" food that I have had has been pretty bad in my opinion.

The key to a great cheesesteak in Philly is actually the bun. Authentic uses a cheese-wiz type cheese and the steak isn't what we consider steak here. I actually like the SW versions of cheesesteak better. It is a regional thing.
