Dennis Hopper was in Rebel Without a Cause also. He was the last survivor of the stars in the movie. He outlived James Dean, Sal Mineo, and Natalie Wood. I think Dennis was one of the people known for saying "If you remember the 60's, you were not there". His role in Blue Velvet is one of the creapiest performances in cinema history. He was an interesting guy and a good actor.

this is the funniest damn thing ive ever seen with Dennis Hopper in it. (he is in it about 8:00 minutes into it, if you want to fast forward to the scene). Its from MadTV and its off the wall hilarious.
