    Sweet!

For me it's expensive drug-free therapy. Always brings a smile to my face no matter what mood I'm in or how sh*itty the day has been.
They bring a smile to a lot of other peoples' faces too. Any idea what the time is supposed to be for zero to sixty? ETA: Google says 3.8 sec.

would that be the big, historic homes just south and east of the Capitol and Lincoln? I believe that is where i saw her (?) and the Bentley. Very nice.

According to my R&T Super Cars" coffee table book; the 0-60 time is 4.0 and the 1/4 mi is 12.3 @ 117.4, also top speed was 192 mph. Not sure how accurate this is, but it gives one a ballpark idea i suppose.

Okay, so im out on my patio today enjoying a cold beverage while trying to get the grill lit. And the back of my house faces the NW Expressway, btw, so i hear this cool sound out on the road that sounded like something really exoitc getting busy. I look out over the fence and i see a black Lamborghini Murcielago FLYING down the Expressway. At that moment it occoured to me that, im in the wrong line of work. Absolutely stunning car!! Wow...

dont laugh too hard for a minute.

a friend of mine knows someone who has an old beat-up mazda b2500 truck, the paint job is a mix of sun-worn red and primer.....nothing special.

a keen eye towards the ground shows this truck is equipped with 4 pirellis, a sharper eye shows some slight modification for air intake.

so mr. mazda is waiting at a light when a group of young pretentious racing snobs roll up next to him in their decked-out honda civic, complete with all the racing bells & whistles ala "the fast & the furious".

the kids take note of his racing tires and laugh out loud and point at his truck as they still wait for the light. he then revs his truck engine, but the kids think he is joking, and challenge him to a street race on green.

little do they know he has a very expensive engine under the hood pushing over 400 horse.

when the light turns green the kids packed into the civic are left choking on his dust far behind.

so remember class, its whats under the hood that really counts! ( a little lesson we should all focus on )

Thanks for posting this. Having a hot-rod mini-pickup is my dream car. Most folks think I'm crazy for even wanting something like this. It's nice to know that I'm not alone.

hot mini-pickups arent new. but if youre gonna plunk down thousands on an engine, you better hide it so that everyone else thinks you got an old clunker.

A friend of mine from high school had one of those around 1981, a little baby blue Chevy Luv, from the outside it was nothing special, the only thing not stock about was the chrome Western Wagonwheel wheels with some Daytona radials, they were just 70 series width. If you looked inside, a tach on the steering column and a B&M Quicksilver shifter were some clues that it did not have the standard Isuzu 4-banger. It had a Chevy 400 small block, it had one of those Weiand/Edlebrock Lynx air filters so it could clear the stock hood, it also had Hush Thrush mufflers and Thrush silencers to keep it as quite as possible, they also routed all of that within the frame so nothing hung down and it still had the small, stock pipe on it to complete the stock look although cutoff and tacked to the frame.

Right after building it he had it out on 39th one night, he pulled up on a Bandit Trans Am with the 400/4-speed and smoked it. He developed an overheating problem and pulled into McDonald's and popped the hood to see what was wrong, the T/A pulled in and saw what was under the hood and knew he had been had.

no offense, but in the end that truck is still (as you put it) "an old beat-up mazda b2500 truck"

honestly i have no idea why anyone would put a 400 horse motor into something like that. Maybe i would change my mind if the person fixed it up with new paint, brakes, tires, wheels, suspension, interior, transmission, etc. By the time a person spends all that money to fix it up, they could have just as easily spent the cash on something already engineered to be fast, like a sports car or muscle car, and then kept the old truck as a DD or bad weather car.

Dont get me wrong, im sure in its original configuration that truck is good reliable transportation. To each their own i guess.

I agree with most of your post,I mean why not just spend that money on a new car, granted it would be a slow car!

Sometimes it is the desire to "do it" and make something different, to some it is just projects that are more interesting to them than something someone else built.

^^LOL!reminds me of when I was in HS and I had a 95 Z28 Camaro LT-1,and a Toyota Supra pulled up next to me and reved his engine so I raced him and I got SMOKED!We pulled up to The next light and I asked what he had under The hood and He said he had a Twin Turbo V-6,and shooting NOS!so yeah ,you never know until you race!

The last generation Supras had an inline-6 from the factory both in a normally aspirated and twin turbo versions. The last generation of those that were imported could be built up to make some incredible horsepower, the bottom end of those are super strong for a production car. When I started looking for a car a year ago I was thinking of older, early to mid-90's sports cars and I always liked that Supra, when I priced them the good examples were about the cost of them new. They are real popular because of how you can build them up.

because it wards off unsuspecting theifs, vandals, sabotauers, and the like. no one has any idea what he has under the hood when he parks his truck, they just walk by and laugh, and maybe toss an empty burger king drink cup inside his truck bed in disgust towards him. which is how he likes it, fooling everyone into thinking that he's got nothing special, and thus his truck gets left the hell alone without anyone trying to mess with it, or steal it. anyone who leaves a parked lambourghini murcielago in a mall parking lot without any kind of car alarm, steering wheel locking device, etc...is just asking for trouble.

its the age old-tried and true system of people judging things by looks only, and not getting to know the inside of things.

guys date girls who look stunningly hot, only to dump them when they learn this girl acts like a total b*tch to them and everyone else. the other girl who looks normal and plain, could have the best heart in the world.

back to cars, ...if no one knows what you really have, and simply thinks you have a piece of crap, thats the best security system of all.

people do this everyday, but moreso with their homes and not so much with their cars. you drive by the everyday common house, but no one really knows all the goodies a family has inside (jewelry, electronics, big screen tvs, cash, etc) until a robber breaks in and steals everything.

most robberies occur in bigger homes, cause a robber figures that higher incomed individuals live there considering it costs so much for each square foot of home space, and the goodies will be better inside as a result.

on that token, there are many people who live in crappy beat up looking homes...but actually have lots of nice things inside...cause they are using the best theft deterrent of all. visual deception...which is what everything ive said above is pretty much about.

i get what you mean by sleeper, but my point was if a person spent the necessary money to make that truck handle and stop the way it accelerates, which is the responsible thing to do btw for them and everyone else on the road, for the same money they could have just gotten a nice ride to being with that was engineered to do all of those things along with the factory warranty too.

I had a friend who put a (if memory serves me well) a small block V8 into an old S10 pickup. It was a few years ago so i dont remember exactly what he did. But it was a cheap way to go fast, but the truck didnt handle worth a crap, didnt stop well either. And it really wasnt that fast given the truck wasnt very aerodynamic and didnt have a good transmission. Had he done it right (new tires, wheels, interior, suspension, transmission, brakes, paint, etc.) he would have had a one of a kind special truck. Or, for the same money, he could have gotten a really nice sports car which would have better resale value should he decide to sell it. Like i said, to each his own.

Just curious, what is your definition of a slow car?

well, i also knew a guy in the army who had an old pinto he sunk a lot of money into and tried to hot rod, in the end it was still just an old pinto. Kind of like, whats the point?

speaking of whats the point? What does this have to do with exotic cars?

Most guys i know can and do put up with a girl who acts like a total whatever if she is stunningly hot. Dont forget, most of us guys can be total jerks too, you know. Its a two way street! Girls (hot or not) put up with a lot of crap from us too...

    Cheers
