Thread: I'm being Roasted

    Default I'm being Roasted

I'm being roasted in a Friar's Club style roast Thursday night at the Speakeasy Restaurant (51st & Western), beginning at 8:30.

I thought about not posting this but then decided there may be a few on this board wishing to see me squirm.

Anyway, free to enter. Smoke free and the funniest comics in Oklahoma are zinging me.

    Google be your friend
    define Speakeasy - Google Search

If you're pressed for time though, here's one definition:
Slang a place where alcoholic drinks are sold illegally, esp. such a place in the U.S. during Prohibition

Origin: speak + easy: so named from the secretive atmosphere

The place was, at one time, a "Speakeasy." The 1920's Prohibition Style Speakeasy usually had a nondescript door with a face-slide plate. You knock on the door, the face-plate slides open, you give the guy behind the door the code word "very quietly" and the door tender lets you in.
