Double yes.
Double yes.
What time are you guys looking at meeting, I may not be able to as my wife informs me we have a "parenting class" to attend on Saturday before our little one arrives.
Here is my top 5 suggested areas for photography (no particular order).
1. Classen Curve area
2. Stockyards City
3. Oklahoma River projects
4. American Indian Cultural Center
5. Plaza District
Lee, I don't think we are going to get to any of these. We're talking about walking distance in the downtown core. If you are interested in seeing some good Plaza District photos, however, check out this recent blog post of mine:
A Downtown ontheRange: Friday Night on the Plaza
There's a really good blog/site that Mike Knopp does detailing the river projects, and really he's a better source on that stuff than virtually anyone else I know of:
Oklahoma River: A Vision for the Future
Boathouse District Development
Hope that helps.
Thanks.
Though I do look forward to seeing all of the upcoming photos.
Nick definitely has the right idea on focusing on a small area with multitudes of cameras. The result of this project could be incredible. (For history if nothing else!) A nice day will add a cherry on top. Kudos for putting this together.
I could participate Saturday afternoon (I'm assuming that the "4-6ish" reference is p.m. and not a.m.) but as I've said I'm not a walker and I don't want to slow anyone else down. And I've not seen the bathtub side-car yet materialize. I could meet with the group at a designated convergence point and then be given an assigned task (i.e., a defined area to cover), and I'd be more than glad to participate in my slow motion way and cover it thoroughly. I'd be glad to have another (others) crip(s) join me, if any there are.
Thanks for the kind words, Mike. Sounds good, metro. Doug--I'll put together a walking route of sorts and we'll see if there's a good place for us to meet up near a street and we can put you to good use, Doug.
Alright, I've been watching this long enough.... let's make this a bit more fun. Here's my proposition: figure out how to choose a "best photo" of the batch and if you would like to have your photo seen by a couple hundred thousand readers, I'll use it along with a column about your outing. Oh - one more thing: can I join you?
Hell yeah, Steve.
So, is it Saturday? Just let me know when and where....
i'm jealous. wish i could be there. let me know if you do another one. can't wait to see the pics.
This sounds really cool.
Local tourism...I wish more people would do it on a random day instead of just big events..
I'll know for sure by tomorrow if I can attend. Do we have a time nailed down?
The sun won't be up yet. But I'll be there.
Wonder what it would cost to hire one of those carriages or bicycle guys for a couple of hours.
Woah, Woah, Woah. Slow down. This is at 5AM?The sun won't be up yet. But I'll be there.
NOOOO 5 pm.
That's what I had thought, not sure why the sun won't be up though?
I was just funnin.
I won't be able to participate that late in the day. Have fun!

Hey Doug, is there a way that you could help shuttle some of us from Site 2 to Site 3? I can walk and I'm sure some of the others can walk, too--but some may not want to, and that will be kind of a long distance. We might even just be driving and reparking our cars frequently, or carpool more likely..we'll have to work that out. Here's a walking map I've put together:
Highlights are..
1: Wonderful Automobile Alley..enough said.
2: The cool buildings being restored along 10th, skyline views, and the churches.
3: Harvey has some awesome density, awesome streetwalls, awesome views--and some parking garages we can get up on.
4: Middle of the city, Park and Broadway..and parking garages.
5: Sheridan streetwall in Bricktown, ACM, immediate Canal bldgs, parking garage with a view, AND Walnut Street bridge view.
6: Awesome Deep Deuce..enough said.
7: Lofts at Maywood..cut in the middle, check out Brownstones and Maywood Park sculpture.
That's it. What do you guys think?
