The tower base looks SOOOO small on the webcam but when you look at these pictures, it really shows just how mindbogglingly huge the site really is.. Amazing pictures!

I shot a bunch of video of the Devon site and MBG site tonight. I will try to upload to YouTube and link here tomorrow.

Here are a few pictures from yesterday evening about 6 p.m. when I was leaving downtown after the storms passed through. In the first picture you can see the tower crane operator heading back up to the top.

I was up there around 3-4PM ish. The site is coming along, it was mezmorizing the activity going on.

You can see they have also started work on the Myriad Gardens.

So, just within the frame of the construction cam:

Devon Tower
Rotunda
Podium
New Devon park
Huge parking garage
Connection / expansion of the Colcord
Massive makeover of Myriad Gardens
Old I-40 to come down soon
New I-40 to open
Central Park area to be completely redeveloped
Project 180 and entire renovation of streets and streetscape
And just outside the photo: Complete renovation of the Ford Center

What a treat! Downloaded the videos and got to take a trip up to see it all! Thanks so much Metro--it is very much like actually being there--the air seemed cool around me! The sounds really add a lot as well.

Thanks, yeah I left the mic on because I too agree the sounds add to the virtual experience of hearing the cranes, workers, equipment, even when they are at lower staff when I shot that last night.

Also, there is 40 Forward: Oklahoma's I-40 Crosstown Expressway, ODOT's dedicated official site to the construction of I-40. I contacted John Bowman by email the other day about the lack of photos updated on their site (usually a good amount once a month--it's been two months) and he told me the lady that did that job moved to Hawaii--I don't blame her.

Thanks OKCisOK4me! Looks like it is farther along than I figured it was. I am so old I remember when they built the Crosstown Expressway...that poorly designed crumbling mess. It is a testimony how NOT to build an elevated expressway in this part of the world--especially with "suspect" concrete. That was way back in the early 60's when there were only two tall buildings in OKC, to speak of.

From the photo it appears that all 3 the elevator cores are upto the second floor.

BTW - did you mean the "north" elevator core.

From what I can see it looks like they have to do 3 pours for each core in order to reach the second floor slab. The first pour is about 5 ft which you can see in the video frame from metro below. After that they lift the inner forms 5 feet (which you can see on the south core in the photo below) and pour the full length. After that they'll raise the forms again and do a full pour. I'm guessing it will be 2-3 weeks before all 3 cores reach the 2nd level.

Does anyone know if/when they'll be installing a satellite concrete pumper onto one of the cores?

In that photo kinggober you are looking at the second level. A few more pours (as you described) and they will reach the third level (unless we are in England where they don't count the first level as a level).

Keep in mind the "1st level" is actually the basement.

Anyone know if Devon will plan a huge celebration for the opening or completion of the tower? (i'm sure they will...) On November 16, 2012, it will be the 10th anniversary of the Oklahoma State Capitol Dome fireworks celebration. That would be pretty neat to have a similar celebration that night (plus it's a Friday, so it works out). Fireworks above downtown/devon tower would make for some spectacular photos.

A question for those who know--do the three 'elevator core' structures continue at the same size and position all the way to the top of this building? And, do they form an important central part of the design to strengthen the tower as a whole?
