I saw it a couple of days ago. Not as good as the first, but still pretty fun. If you've been reading the advance reviews around the internet you may have noticed a bit of a negative vibe. I think the reviews are accurate in what they criticize, but I also think they're a little harsher than is necessary.
Essentially, there are a few scenes that really just don't fit very well in the movie or gel with the first movie. Nothing really awful; they're just not very good scenes. The scenes that hit mark, however, are pretty good. Stark and Potts still have a lot of awesome banter throughout the movie and the action/FX scenes are all exciting and fun.
Basically, not as good as the first, but still pretty fun. I think everyone who liked the first one will enjoy this one as well.
isnt mickey rourke playing as whiplash? man, that doesnt even look like him, looks like some spanish guy with dreadlocks or something.
i still like him best in harley davidson and the marlboro man, a highly underrated classic.
@Ginkasa: I agree, there were some things about it that bothered me, and I also enjoyed it very much.
I felt like the first one made Tony Stark seem very hip and with it. The opening scene where he tells the soldier not to put his picture on Myspace is a good example. Sure, even when Iron Man I came out, Myspace wasn't in it's peak of popularity. But it was still cool for his character to acknowledge it. And in this movie I feel like there was a lack of that same hipness that defined him in the first movie. He could have talked about Twitter or tumblr or something in this flick. He just didn't have anything that made him seem like he was still in touch with pop-culture. The phone he had obviously designed for himself was pretty awesome though.
@decepticobra: I know! I was joking last night about how his character seemed more Spanish than Russian. The whips, the little facial hair, the gold teeth. Very funny.
I was glad to see a Russian as the main antagonist though. The US/Russia conflict reminds me of so many great movies from the 60's - 80's.
