Does anyone know where I can buy some home grown tomatoes in the NW OKC area? The ones you buy at the store aren't that tasty at all. When and where are the Farmers markets?

There won't be any locally home grown tomatoes for a while yet. Farmers Markets at 63rd/Western Wed and Sat - Portland, south of the OSU OKC campus Wed and Sat - Downtown Edmond Sat. Don't know the hours.
There's also the Farmer's Market downtown. OK City Farmers Public Market ... Home Sterling Produce there has the largest selection but some of the smaller vendors off to the side have better prices.

It's not really DT more SW of downtown, but they are open everyday I believe, except maybe Sundays. The OSU/OKC farmers market on Saturday mornings is great and will have good tomatoes once they are fully in season, they had some a couple weeks ago that looked pretty good.
SoonerQueen, I'm glad you brought this up. In my opinion, nothing has ever come close to the flavor of a vine-ripened tomato. To be sure, tomatoes have improved over time, but the best store-bought tomato still pales when compared to a vine-ripened one. The best ones at the farmers markets this time of year are still not quite up to par. Give them a couple more weeks and you may start to see some pretty good ones.
Sterling, Angels, et. al. definitely have some of the nicer produce in the area, but it's not really a "farmer's market" of predominately locally grown produce. That being said, Sterling in particular will tell you where the various produce has come from. They typically rotate their variety depending on what is in season in a given region at the time. Incidentally, I'm told it isn't unusual for folks to buy tomatoes there and then set up in the strip malls selling them as "locally grown" with a sizable markup from what they cost at Sterling. (And don't miss the tamale lady that sets up down around the Public Market area on occasion...)
