It's not just a blow to Tulsa. When these jobs go, the state loses them too! It's a blow to Oklahoma when jobs are eliminated in Tulsa, Lawton, OKC, wherever. And not only that, also from the Tulsa World:

Last month, 300 employees with Caterpillar Logistics Services Inc. learned they will lose their jobs when the Broken Arrow facility closes at the end of August.

Also in March, Zeledyne LLC said it would lay off 210 workers on its glass furnace line.

Sometimes it's a loss for America and jobs being taken to other countries altogether. I see job losses and cut-backs as losses to us all. Though, these kinds of moves shore up the bottom line and will excite Wall Street.

Unfortunate but these are mostly hourly call center jobs and a few management personnel. This facility is in an area with several other similar facilities in east Tulsa. I imagine lots of these jobs will be absorbed into other call centers in Tulsa and OKC while some will relocate to other HSBC centers.
