A "bump" is simply making a new post in a thread to reposition it to the top of the page.

Either "bump", "^^^" or "ttt" (To The Top) is normally used to move a thread to the "threads with news posts" position at the top of the page so that the subject matter (in this case...a reminder about the Coits meeting) is more visible.

I know, when all the Senior Citizen Ladies here he will be at Coit's you can hardly get around or in the door....He's the next Neil Diamond I guess.....I can't even get his autograph and we're friends...Of course I tried to get him to sign a check last time...didn't work....His entourage is so large that we have to have the entire room reserved to handle it all.....
