There used to be one in Stillwater and Ponca City a few years ago, guess it went out of business. Also, I was thinking there was one on E. Lincoln as well.
We had them here for a few months in Austin, I think they had some sort of business issue because they closed so quickly. They closed almost as quickly as the Village Inn's which had their franchise pulled, for good reason.
Really. I wish I knew we had Del Taco in Stillwater, I would have made a special trip to visit one.
And how 'bout an In-N-Out Burger?
So what makes Del Taco so good? I'm moving mid-April to Utah, there's one in the town where we'll be living. They don't have Taco Mayo (my pick over Bell & Bueno) so I'll be looking for a new place to get my fix.
Big Truck Taco > the field.
Los Comales Taqueria > big truck taco > the field
Del Taco is just Taco Bell of South California. (Cali-Mex?)
Taco Mayo is the Taco John's of Colorado. (West-Mex)
Taco Bueno is a hybrid of them, located only in NM, TX and OK. (West/Cali/Tex-Mex)
Taco Cabana is better than any of them (for fast food). (Tex-Mex).
Of course Big Truck Taco is way better, but it isn't a chain.
I agree with you on the Taco Bell meat...it just doesn't taste quite right to me. I'll definitely have to give Del Taco a try when we get moved. We're going to Hill AFB, gonna be living in Ogden.
Mid-Del Taco of Del City (mom and pop) is a good place also.
are we ever gonna get a in an out or white castle?
sorry for posting off topic
Really good food, but the combination of a very small building and a staff of chain smokers made it impossible to go inside. Used to get my food to go and you could smell the cigarette smoke on the styrofoam cups. Haven't been there in a couple of years. Hopefully it's changed.
Lots of good places to go. 'Specially local places which generally blow their chain store competition away.
Support your local businesses.
If Del Taco moves here, boycott it.
It really is all about who takes your order and what you get.
The brown haired younger lady with glasses and weight, she is the most polite person. I would hire her in any restaurant. *All* the other people are just so-so to rude... depending on who it is.
The crispy cado taco and the rancher are my favorite tacos. I find most of them bland as well... Then I discovered their quesadillas and holy wow. It is great. It is the only thing I get now.
Also, the other secret is to call in your order, then use the drive-in pickup window. You can bypass the ordering people and the smell you get from going in.
This may be fast foor Mex information overload, but the closest Taco John's I have seen is in Hayes, Kansas. Sometimes on the way to see the family in Colorado I must stop in Hayes and choose my food death -- Long John Silvers or Taco Johns. Way too many Johns, but aptly named.
I can't get down with the tater-tots they serve, instead of chips.
