You know what, I like this board alot and I am not gonna sit here and argue with you anymore. I come here to make friends, you want to be my friend I can do that, if you dont, your loss not mine.

I was thinking the same thing. When someone has run out of steam (because their arguments have none), he arbitrarily declares an end to the debate and declares himself the winner.

Sounds alot like the current White House.

    No loss here.

I'm glad you enjoy this board. But if you're going to say something, don't be surprised to be challenged if people find your statements lacking, troublesome or foolish.

I have not run out of steam, I just choose to not turn this board into a fighting ring. You want to argue with me, e mail me and I will be happy to put you in your place.

Could it be that you want to move it to email so you can abandon civility? Are your positions so untenable you don't want them to see the light of day?

If you don't want to continue, don't continue. I'm not fighting. Are you?

Basically if you want to know how I feel, I have NO use for people that want to go around hurting other people, be them White, Black, purple, brown, Red,Clear..etc.

I dont discriminate, if you want to go around hurting other people I have NO use for you. I do own guns, to protect my self and for hunting, not for looting. If someone threatens to harm my family, friends or myself your damn right I am going to use it. And before you call me some sort of gun toting lunatic, I have taken many classes on firearm saftey and proper use and even took a citizens police academy course to better understand the way my police department works and what my rights are as a citizen.

Thank you for sharing that. That helps me understand your perspective.

Sometimes we say things in a way that does not give the best or most accurate impression of what we truly believe. Reasonable inferences drawn from previous comments paint a different picture than what you just described.

Hopefully, this clears up any misconceptions I and others may have had.

To be fair, Mariner62 ( my friend ) has been on this board for a very long long time and has never done or written anything to hurt anyone - always a very kind, nice and giving person .... he is really a good guy.

Perhaps we are all on edge due to the feelings of helplessness and despair that this situation has caused. I don't think we can judge our statements as normal feelings, just reacting to a tragedy and like SweetDaisy said, blowing off steam.

I say, again, let it go and let's put our energy where it is needed most -in trying to find a way to offer assistance and generate ideas for the refugees.

Thanks Karrie, I try to be a good person. Your right, everyone is on edge right now. Too bad we could not get a group together to go help out in some way, but right now the best thing for anyone to do is donate what we can, time money or food. One thing that may come out of all this tragedy is jobs in construction, not a good way to creat jobs by any means, but it may put some people to work for a couple years, who knows.

Sure, friends sounds great. We don't have to agree on everything do we?

Friends dont always agree on things, but can still be friends, my friend.
Like I said, I am done arguing. Things are too bad right now for any more of that.

Wow....talk about a good debate. All of you are very passionate about your views and opinions. Just make sure that you respect the views of other posters, and, if they do not agree with what you are saying, then that's all right.

There is always room for healthy debate, however, there is no reason to argue with someone over what they believe. If they have stated their opinion, and you don't agree with it, there is really no reason to beat them up for what they believe.

I really think this thread has almost been beaten to death, however, I am going to leave it open, because I feel more opinions can be expressed in a respectful manner. If the same argument continues over and over again (like it has been), then I will close the thread.

I know that I started this thread, however, I did not realize how passionate some of the posters were about this subject. The points that have been made have been great, however, hashing it out over and over again about the same thing is not fruitful.

I have to agree with some of the ones that have tried to turn this thread into something positive, by asking what we can do to help these people. Who can we give monetary gifts too? Where can we take bottled water, clothing, personal higiene items, etc...?

If someone would like to start a thread on what we, as Oklahomans, can do to help those in Louisiana, I will make it a sticky thread so that it will always stay at the top. We have complained about the looting, the president, FEMA, and anybody else that we could possibly blame for what has happened. Now, let's discuss how we can help these people.
