Denny's/Jack in the Box coming near Quail Springs Mall

I went to the Taco Bell that is on May Ave. just north of Memorial today for lunch and noticed they are now building something on the lot just north of Taco Bell. I asked the management at Taco Bell if they knew what was being built and they stated it was going to be a Denny's and a Jack in the Box.

I wish we'd get a Village Inn here in the city.They had some of the best breakfast food and they were open 24 hours.

We lost our Denny's and Golden Corral at 63rd and N May. We need some new, good placed to eat to go in here. I hate to always have to drive to Memorial Road. I wish Cheddar's would open up closeby.

I agree, Village Inn over Denny's or I-Hop any day.
Denny's and I-Hop are just places to go when nothing else is open.

I wish it was either a Dave and Busters or even Ruby Tuesdays, I still believe that Dave and Busters is going to end up somewhere in Bricktown.

How about instead of Denny's and IHOP and Village Inn, try Jimmy's Egg, Beverly's or the Classen Grill? Try supporting your local businesses instead of cardboard, faceless chains.

I know there are some elitists and wannabe elitists on this site, but is it seriously going to ruin any of your lives that a chain restaurant is opening?

How about being excited that we're getting any new businesses at all in today's economic climate? Seems like a vote of confidence for the area to me.

Yeah, Village Inn has some good food. Yeah, there are some local restaurants that are pretty good. OKC is 600 some odd square miles- I really doubt that one new Denny's restaurant is going to chase away all possibilities for any other new restaurants to open here again, ever.

If you choose not to eat there, fine. If you're offended by its mere existence, I'm sorry for you. If you think that your sister's grandmother's cousin from a "real" city will look down on OKC because we have some new "mass market" food options, please put yourself out of your misery and move on to the greener pastures. I think it is a good thing that there is a new late-night option in that area, and I think it is exciting that we're getting new businesses in a climate where so many companies are reluctant to expand/build.

Millie Dear, it has nothing to do with being elitist or snobbish. The reason is that when you spend your money at a chain restaurant, that money - less a portion for wages and operations - goes out of state. When you try to make a point to support your local restaurants, virtually every penny stays in-state and in-city and circulates through our local economy multiple times. There was a recent thread that I can't find that quoted a study that showed how many times it's estimated locally spent dollars circulate through the local economy. It amazes me that people get so worked up and excited over yet another fast food chain when this city is already known as the fast-food capital of the country per-capita. Its also known as one of the fattest cities in the country.....there may be a connection!

So, open your mind and get off your own high-horse and understand there may actually be some logic behind people's comments that you haven't thought about.

I don't see a point to your question? Just because a national corporation can come in and open a restaurant with cash or proceeds from a $5 billion dollar bond sale is a moot point - other than its cash they've gathered from all their other restaurants in all the other states and brought into their corporate office.

That is the point. They have the money to come in and open a successful business model. People will go there, tax money will be collected, salaries will be paid, etc.

In many cases, yes. There are probably 2-3 empty restaurant pad sites on Memorial near the mall that Denny's could remodel and move into. I'd far rather see them renovate a closed business and/or move further into town to infill than contribute to more sprawl that OKC doesn't really need.

I would argue, though, that local, no-name places would do better as infill, due to density/traffic issues.
