I bought a Grain Drill From a farmer in the panhandle a couple of weeks ago and he had a 1948 flat bed Grain truck (still runs) wanted $300.00 for it.....Know it is a deal but it's 325 miles out there and it's too big to haul on a car trailer...

Who was the farmer in the panhandle? I know a bunch of 'em. And what are you going to do with a grain drill, give it as a door prize at a Coit's meeting?

That was what I wondered when I read the post. I gave one of ours away a few years ago. Far cry from the behemoths in use now. Took us about forever and a day to plant 40 acres and now they do that between breakfast and coffee break and in an enclosed cab, too.

Yep, I'm headed towards your house in just a few minutes to let you ride ole paint and I want to borrow "Silver" from you for the week-end.......

Speaking of which what did YOU name your Stick Horse when you were a little kid? Don't tell me you didn't have a stick horse.....Your old Buddy across the street from me (DP) found a bunch of Broom Sticks somewhere and we sold them to the kids in the neighborhood....I kept a Yellow one...you can guess the name....the one he always rode was painted Red.....Hadn't thought about that in years.....my grandfather had some strips of leather and we "nailed" the bridles on them.....and an old mop head made enough strings left for the manes.....Kids today would not be caught dead doing that. If they had "Stick Horses" that would have to come from some fancy toy store......

I lived on the same street that Gen64 lived on and I could never figure out how he got his stick horses to run so fast. We would trade horses and damned if he couldn't get my horse to outrun his. Never could figure it out. Gen64 also had a herd of stick cows and stick sheep. He sure was fond of those sheep.

I did, but I don't remember it's name. Maybe Geronimo or Charly.

You've come from carrying a six shooter to carrying a six pack. Some would
    call that progress.

Wasn't the Lone Star brewery on S.W. 2nd street? I remember that the
League for the Blind took it over for a while.

Where was the brewery located? Was there another one in town?

You are correct. Don't know of another one in town.

If you check the Sanborn Maps there was a Pabst Blue Ribbon brewery downtown. I think it was near where the Santa Fe Station sets now.

You gys are just jealous because at the ripe old age of 8 years old I was Wrangling Stick Horses and selling them.....A good Stick Horse would bring as much as three to four 25 cent comic books....That would equivalent to 25 to 30 in today's trading space....And they were pretty easy to break and they didn't eat too much....Yee-Haw....
