Santa Shot...By Jesus
A Nipomo, CA family is catching some flack for their Christmas display. Jesus, holding a shotgun, over a downed Santa.
"It's an expression of my repressed creativity," says Ron Lake.
"Christmas is not about Santa, its about Jesus, not the Jesus as the killer with the shotgun, but come on there's a little humor here, a little tragedy here," says Lake.
The display is up during the day and down at night. Unfortunately no pics.
Whoa! I missed Saturday - still navigating my way around here. Looking forward to catching up...thanks Rickster!
Ernie Freshour is my brother. He is still in Oklahoma City. He was 12 years older than me, but even I remember his performance on the football field for Grant. Wow! What memories!!! He was romanced by several major colleges to play, but got married instead. He ended up being very successful in the oil exploration business.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++
He (Ernie) was many a young man's hero.....I was at Grant when he played for the football team..... between him and Jody Crosby, Grant was a power house....Of course, you can't ignore Mike O'Shea (deceased) and John Suggs
That was a terror for the OKC Highschool football club. Tracy Norwood was coach when Ernie was there....
Who's the pro football player that's buried at the Czech cemetery on S.W.
44th?
To be fair for anyone trying to answer the question, it should read,
(Who WAS buried at the Czech cemetery)
@Generals64,
This Newbie would not know anyhow, I'm not a big fan of most team
sports.
My theory is this:
Football is a bunch of guys standing in a circle in the middle of a field
patting each other on the ass, and baseball is a guy standing in the middle of
a field grabbing his nards. So you gotta wonder about people who play these
games, and the people who watch them too.

Thats not wrestling garb, it's Dom DeLuise as "Captain Chaos" from the
Cannonball Run movies.
I Always thought he was a great comedian, and character actor.
He died May 4, 2009
R.I.P. Dom

After this slight I am going to spill the beans.
Birth: Apr. 13, 1945
Oklahoma City
Oklahoma County
Oklahoma, USA
Death: Jul. 21, 1970
Professional Football Player. 1st Lt. in the Army Reserve (Unit: A BTRY, 2ND BN, 11TH ARTY RGT, 101 ABN DIV in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma). Bob was born James Robert Kalsu and attended Del City High School in Del City, Oklahoma. At 6'3" and 235 pounds, he was an All-American offensive tackle in 1967 as the University of Oklahoma won the Big Eight Conference title. The Buffalo Bills selected him in the eighth round of the 1968 college draft but he quickly proved himself by earning the team's Rookie of the Year award in his first AFL season as guard – it would also be his final season of football. Bob had made an ROTC commitment with the 101st Airborne Division in college and in late 1969 he was called to duty in Vietnam. He was told that as a pro football player arrangements could be made where he wouldn't have to serve but Bob would have none of it. He said, "I gave my word to my country. Just because I play pro football doesn't make me any better of a man or any different of a man than the men already serving our country. I'm going to live up to that commitment and the word I gave." Bob left behind his beloved wife, Jan, who was pregnant and a young daughter. On July 21, 1970, only eight months into his tour of duty, Bob fell while helping defend Ripcord Base on an isolated jungle mountaintop near the Ashau Valley, Thua Thien, South Vietnam - enemy fire ignited an ammunition depot. Bob's wife Jan received word of her husband's death as she lay in her hospital bed only hours after giving birth to her son, Bob Jr. Bob Kalsu was the only active professional football player killed in the Vietnam War. First time I have taken offense to a posting. I don't care anything about your opinion of athletes, fat comedians in wrestling garb, the Viet Nam war!
This "MAN" should be an example to all on a daily basis.
He was first buried at the Czech Cemetery, but later moved to Resthaven.
Sad, kind of reminds you of Pat Tillman's story.
@papaOU
That was a jest aimed at Generals64, you DID notice the
devilish smiley after words RIGHT?
I was not trying to offend anyone, or their heroes.
Not that I did not expect to get crap for maligning the
national pass-times.
ChuckE.
That's ok, we all have strong feelings about things, and sometimes
we don't realize how strong 'till we get set off about them.
Any how here is a Wikipedia article on Bob Kalsu:

Look in the honors section at the bottom.
Here is another on Battle of Fire Support Base Ripcord:

Easy boys:...........We ALL enjoy this site ....Right?.....When you become a member of this Group it's like a "Family" .... Right?......I knew about Kalsu and I noticed Dom Delouise (sp)......Keep Plugging....Viet Nam touched a lot of us....Some in different ways but I lost too many friends over there....As di quite a few others....Keep hasseling me ChuckE....I'm from the Southside remember....
I remember back in about 1969 Kenny Skaggs Sr. took a Nash Rambler in trade for a Kirby vaccume cleaner. Kenny Jr. and I used to have a big goof driving that little thing around southside. Just saw one of the Nash's sell om Barrett-Jackson for $30,000.
I had a friend in highschool that "HAD" to drive a 64 Nash Rambler stationwagon to school. He never thought it was as cool as the other guys cars. He always drooled over my 327/4 speed impala. He thought I was just being nice to trade cars with him on Saturday nights, but there wasn't a better ride to take your date to the drive-inn movies in than a big roomy stationwagon. Damn I sure hated to see him trade that thing off for a boring 67 SS 396.!!
My first car was a Nash Rambler. Bought it for $50.00
Ya can't hardly buy a bicycle for that now.
