In that category, I agree. For perseverance, number of hits and kickasstic music, you'd be hard pressed to find better.![]()
Van Halen sure was a terrible band to have been so famous. I can think of exactly one Van Halen song that I find likable. Personally, I always found AC/DC to be too repetitive. If you've heard one of their songs you've heard them all.
If I had to vote I would have to say Zeppelin or Floyd.
Of all time??? AC/DC would be in the top ten on my list of hard rock/ heavy metal but not #1.
Number one would be: YouTube - Judas Priest - Hell Bent For Leather (Reunited Tour Live)
A couple of "coulda been the bests" but were either cut short or had bad timing -
Alice in Chains
Guns n' Roses
Metallica, hands down.
Jimi Hendrix and the "Band of Gypsy's".
black sabbath anyone?
YouTube - Black Sabbath-War Pigs
AC/DC of course.
Dethklok
Go Forth and Die
Anthrax
Ac/dc
I would agree with Zep, but Floyd??? I always put them in a different category than rock, definitely not metal.
What about The Who? Watch their 1970 Isle of Wight performance or listen to "Live at Leeds", preferably with the volume up to 11! The 2 minute and 50 seconds or so of "Sparks" is the ultimate in power rock. Check out the titanic crescendo between 3:45 and 4:20 on this clip:
