Thread: My Birthday Meal

    Default My Birthday Meal

I don't expect this thread to last long, but here goes - My birthday is the
18th, which for the past few years has meant my annual trip to Iron Starr BBQ. Love the food, service is good, prices are fair). Anybody want to suggest an alternative this year (no chains please).

Well, if you usually go to Iron Starr you must like the food...how about staying with the same group & going to Red Prime and taking advantage of their fixed price menu? Also, happy birthday!

I agree with MsDarkstar. My bf said the Wagyu is the best piece of meat he has ever put in his mouth, ($70 just to let you know since, they don't tell you the prices on the specials) literally! Make sure to get the slivered asparagus as a side, it's amazing!

This has been asked before and I always think Musashis or even Shoguns are good spots for bday dinners. This is assuming you sit at the hibachi.

Shogun's is a slightly ghetto version of Musashi's. If I had to choose, it'd be the later.

Although I generally find Hibachi to be vastly overrated and overpriced. It's more of a meal + entertainment than anything. Fun for large groups -- just as long as you're not getting stuck with the check!

I agree with Midtowner. It's more entertainment. The problem with Hibachi is that when everything is cooked on the Hibachi, everything taste the same from chicken to scallops and veg.

But, but, but, veg.s and scallops taste soooooo much better when they taste like chicken. Most anything does, cheesecake excluded of course.

If you wanna do something completely different, and you can dinner early enough, try Mamma E's and have yerself a Wings and Waffle party.

If late food is yer thang, Hit up Bobo's for late night chicken.

neither is on most typical b-day lists, but good eating.

or, make it a real adventure and check out any of the Shady of the Month choices from eataroundokc.com

The first place I thought of is Yamato's Japanese Steak House. I love their food. That's a special place for me.

The atmosphere is much better at Musashi's, but the food wins at Shogun. I do like the robata/bar area at Musashi's, so it might be a wash.

I visited the National Banjo Museum on there free Museum Sunday a weekend before last. They have a replica of a Shakeys that you can rent out for special events (maybe a birthday even?) and have banjo music and pizza and everything. FYI.

Swing by the Banjo Museum on the way to the casa, drop off a he's nice verification for future reference, and tuck a Shakey's party GC in my stocking this year.

Fly safe, and btw, tell Rudolph Bubba is sorry about his brother, but if it helps, that den wall sure looks better now.

I'm impressed with your willingness to try something new. You'll have to inform us inquiring (read: nosy) minds as to what the final contestant was.

    Happy early Birthday!
