Thread: Commercials from the Past???

  1. #1

    Default Commercials from the Past???

As Christmas gets closer the B C Clark Jingle is EVERYWHERE.....Good advertisement though. Now, they are playing jingle ads (BC Clark) from the past. and, I just started thinking about some of the wild and exciting ads...Linda Soundtrak (when she came on the eggs would crack in the refrigerator)....Bud and Don Mathis (Fire-Blazing prices). Dollar's best buy at TG&Y....Do you remember any of the old ones????

    A few come to mind:

Broadway Ford in Edmond: "Don't you BUY no ugly truck!"

    The Paul Meade Insurance jingle.

"That's incredible!" "No, that's Southwest Ford!"

Tom Park for Lynn Hickey Dodge.

A couple of my favorite were both car commercials and both were Chevrolet Dealers:

Alan Merril Chevrolet, Route 66 in Yukon

Gene Williams Chevrolet, on the Old Prarie Field

    Time to make the donuts....

    Where's the beef?

    Dippity Doo.

2 all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun.

I like to eat at Schlotsky's when I can find the time, if I am hungry, and I always am. I guess the thing I like about it's all that cheese and spicy meat yeah that's it...no it's not - I like the bread. That fresh made bread....

I always liked the commercial where Michael Jordan vs. Larry Bird for McDonald's. Off the parking garage, over the highway, thru the window...

Timex! Takes a licking but keeps on ticking....

If cows could they would give Milnot.....

    I want my Maypo!

Let's let Mikey try it. He hates everything......

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?

In the early '60s, when I was in my late single digits, I was allowed to stay up until 10:15 on Wednesday nights. That's the night that WKY news was sponsored by Jax Beer, and the commercials were cartoons. The only one I remember is a frog tells a princess that he'll turn into a handsome prince if she gives him a Jax. She gives him a can, which he drinks and smacks his lips, "Ahhh!"
She says, "You're no prince! You're just a stupid frog!"
The frog replies, "I'm not so stupid. I got my Jax Beer didn't I?" Then he looks at the camera and pops his eyebrows up and down a couple of times. That one cracked my Grandma up bigtime.

    As far as tobacco products:

"Take a puff. It's springtime!" (Salem)

"I'd rather fight than switch!" (Taryton)

"A silly little millimeter longer!" (Benson & Hedges 101s)

"Should a gentleman offer a lady a Tiparillo?"

    "Show us your Larks!" (Lark)

Someone mentioned Alan Merrell Chevrolet, but they left out his opening line, "Hello folks! Torture time again!"

Within a few months to a year, going to Dairy Queen will be a reality. A good friend just signed a franchise agreement to build a New DQ in Norman. If I say anymore, they (he) might hunt me down and take me deep sea fishing, using me as bait. Should be an announcement coming soon to a TV or Newspaper near you.
