We are planning on attending
Hey for you guys that have never attended one of the meetings....you oughta come. We (Southside memories) started about 1 1/2 years ago meeting on a given Saturday and just have a good get together. There is not cost unless you eat lunch and then it's whatever Coit's has on their menu. So far, we haven't had any "Whacko's" show up (except Prunepicker). And if they do then they will probably just fit right in. We have tried to get TeriOKC (the originator of the thread) to show but to no avail she's not been there that we know of yet. But, we have the faith that she will show her smiling face someday. Even if you are NOT from the Southside and yet you enjoy reading and participating on the thread then we invite you to the get together....We haven't had anyone from N.W. Classen or John Marshall yet.....So ya'll come:......ya hear.....
I found some Jefferson junior high year books from 66 to 70. That's right,
Jefferson Jr. High was 5 of the happiest years of my life.
I'll black out photos for a nominal fee.
Does anyone remember the assistant principal at that time? He was a cousin
of mine. So I was 38 and in the 8th grade, give me a break.
Of course!
I found something else but I don't remember what it was. Prunette has put a
million boxes in my music room so the Model A can go into the garage. I look
at them everyday and they're still there. I even opened one of the boxes.
That's how I found the Statesman year books.
Next month I'm gong to open another box.

The school itself is in pretty "rough shape". Maintenance is not a priority...nor is the kids education. Graffitti and Gang problems will eventually take that school over it something isn't done quickly....I really worried about my wife teaching over there....She had a kid come to school with an oversized book....She's taught a long time and this wasn't a kid that would be carrying that size book. When she stopped him he didn't want to give up the book. She took it anyway and when she opened it someone had cut out the inside so that a gun could be smuggled in....Too much television....but, kids like that are "Stupid" enough to try it......And yes, I said "STUPID"......
