There is an article in the Oklahoman Archives about Conway Twitty and Bill Anderson owning the Po' Folks franchises in Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle.

Twitty was an investing partner as were other country entertainers. The concept was good at the time but for some reason it just wouldn't work..

Here's why I think restaurants that were popular suddenly die away. I've
noticed the when a restaurant has a long wait or a seat, that restaurant
tends to remain busy because people will wait. Why? Because the food is
good, or perceived to be good because of the crowd.

Many one time busy restaurants cut their throats by moving to a larger
location. Suddenly there's no wait, because there's plenty of room. But
the clincher is this. Since there's no longer a line to get in, it's perceived
that the food isn't as good as it was, even if it's better.

Having a line to get into the restaurant is a very good thing.

I'll bet if Ken moves his steakhouse, Amber, OK, to a larger place he'll be
out of business in 6 months.

I agree 100%...I opened my first variety store and had many mega bargains we could only let so many people in at a time due to the size of the store....We ran over $6,000.00 that day.....Maybe I should try that again....Oh yeah, I think we need to have a meeting at Ken's in Amber someday....Huh???

There's something about a crowd that causes people to lose their senses.

Okay, about Ken's. How about tomorrow?
I'd gladly pay but Ken doesn't take credit cards.

Broke my heart, and saddened my tummy, when Po' Folks went away.

Let's see... I've got it right here... or is it there? Would someone mind using
there's until I can find where I put mine.

Okay, this is scary. Prunette is sitting here reading a book while I'm typing
and watching the World Serious. She's not seen anything I've written and
just said, "I took it and hid it!"

    I give up.

You better duck behind that couch!

As a matter of fact she said I've had it long enough and is going to call
the Fed tomorrow and show them where the problem is.

    So there!

Don't recall which came first, but suspect it was PF.

I've enjoyed both, very much so. However, if I could choose to have either one open up a nice stroll down the street from me, I'd choose for Po' Folks to come back, in a heartbeat.

Cracker Barrel isn't consistent. Something is wrong when the beans and
greens can be better in Albuquerque than in Asheville.

I remember the house that was mentioned previously in this thread, the one with the patio on the roof on S. Villa. All southsiders seem to know their streets and landmarks!

Funny you mention Velton Lang, General. I remember him well when he worked for Rudy Pybas. My Daddy was the butcher there for years before he retired back in 1981.

I drove over that yard in my '60 Renault. Hey! It was stickin' out and I
was drivin' in a straight line.

Glad to know you're alive. We're still waiting for you to make a get
    together.

Ain't Dickson about 10 minutes west of Mannsville? Or is it 30 minutes south
    of Sulphur?

Since he ran around with your uncle did he spend some time at the McAllister
    Retirement Center?

    Teri, start showin' up!

Does the Lady General have a computer? If so I've got a lot of questions to
ask her. I mean a lot. Almost within a thousand of Prunette, who thinks
I really go drinking with you, of which I'm not allowed for any reason.

I can't win. Neither will you if they ever meet each other. I mean we will
never have a chance at anything.

Wanna go drinkin'? I promise not to tell, especially Lady General. Bourbon?
Works for me. Even if it's cheap.
