Default Bob Novak loses his cool, storms off live show on CNN

    Courtesy Media Matters:
CNN contributor and syndicated columnist Robert D. Novak stormed off CNN's set after using vulgar language during a live discussion with CNN contributor James Carville on the "Strategy Session" segment of the August 4 edition of CNN's Inside Politics. While discussing Rep. Katherine Harris's (R-FL) plan to run for a Senate seat against Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL), Novak told Carville, "Just let me finish what I'm going to say, James, please. I know you hate to hear me." Carville said to host Ed Henry, describing Novak: "He's gotta show these right-wingers that he's got backbone, you know. The Wall Street Journal editorial page is watching you. Show 'em you're tough."

Novak responded: "Well, I think that's bull****, and I hate that." He then said to Henry, "Just let it go." As Henry asked Carville a question, Novak walked off the set.

After the segment ended, Henry apologized to viewers for Novak's leaving the set "a little early," adding: "I had told him in advance that we were going to ask him about the CIA leak case. He was not here for me to be able to ask him about that. Hopefully, we'll be able to ask him about that in the future."

Wow, that was heavy. Did you notice the mention regarding Tom Coburn from OK - it was pretty good that the interviewer tried to hold it together when he walked off ..... I didn't think he used vulgar language though - haven't they seen MTV?

He shouldn't have lost his cool like that. And don't tell me Novak didn't expect an ambush from Carville. That's Carville's schtick.

I get a kick out of Carville and Matalin duking it out. And to think, they can leave their politics at the door when they get home. They should write a book.

What's fascinating to me is that they used to appear on Crossfire all the time together and discussed more serious issues with more passion (and bitter, biting comments) all the time. As has been the discussion around the web since it happened, he was looking for an excuse to get off the set because he didn't want to answer question about his outing of Valerie Plame.

And yes, he is a weanie.

Frankly, I don't know how they live together when you watch their public sparring over political issues.

I personally think it was a planned, faked "storm off". I've seen him much angrier and he gets downright red-faced when he is angry. His actions on the live show with Carville were not what I've seen of his anger in the past.

What I want to know is - why did they forewarn him of the question. But I guess it's one of those things where you give a guy a rope and a he'll figure out how to hang himself. I think (hope) that his little tactic backfires on him. Makes him look incredibly guilty and egotistical.
