Thread: G.P.'s BBQ Grill

    Default G.P.'s BBQ Grill

I've been going to this great little restaurant for the past few months and continue to be impressed with their food and service. Located right by the entrance to Surrey Hills on the NW Expressway, they are in a new building that looks more like it should be a law office or clinic. Very clean and the owners and help are very friendly and helpful. I've fallen in love with their fried catfish, baked yams, collard greens, and carrot cake. I've tried their ribs and they are good but I keep coming back to the fried catfish. They are open every day but Sunday and are sometimes a bit crowded but always worth the wait. Try the coca-cola cake with ice cream. Or the sweet potato pie. Fried okra is good but not as good in my opinion as the greens.

We're meeting friends at G.P.'s BBQ Grill this Friday evening. I'm getting meatloaf this time. It's a BBQ meatloaf. I'll get grilled corn on the cob and fried okra with it, I think. Meet me there and say hi. I'll be the old guy with the bald head and a walking cane.

We went by there Saturday night a little after 8:00pm and they were closed. It looked like we just missed out. We'll try again. I love fried catfish.

I've enjoyed the ribs there, but never tried the catfish. I'll have to give it a try. Totally agree with you on the service and friendliness.

We were there on Friday night, as promised. But I just couldn't forsake my favorite, catfish! We took some carrot cake home and it was such a generous serving that I have some in my lunch today. (Wife knew I had been wanting some meatloaf, so she made some yesterday morning and I now that THAT in my lunch as well - had my cake and eating it too!)

I think they are open until 8:00 Mon through Thur. then 9:00 Fri. & Sat. May be wrong, but I think that's right.

    Go! You will love it.

It is with great regret that I must announce that G.P.'s BBQ Grill has closed. Tammy posted a note on the door thanking their many loyal customers. We went by there tonight to eat and found it closed. Too bad. Good food, really nice owners.
