I think the Zoo would be a good locale, even moderately attended shows look good and there is room to spread out and enjoy the show and you can still get a large crowd in there like when I saw Huey Lewis & The News on the Sports tour (1984) that had almost 14,000 at the show...they also had an opening act by the name of Stevie Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble but he just starting to hit it big at that time. Plus that time of year it is starting to get dark earlier and the weather is usually nice.

I do know of one DJ, he is the nephew of a friend of mine here, he won the 2007 DMC World DJ Championship.

    Here are his pages

Yeah, was re-reading the post today and saw that.

As much as I love house music I wouldn't go to Citiwalk to see him. I hate that place with a passion reserved for animal abusers and people that talk in movie theaters.

That's why I'm saying it needs to be in a different venue. They just want to have it there because that's where PVD performed. IF it has to be there then I WILL go there. I mean, when's the next opportunity that he'll be coming back? Probably Dallas. I just hope we make such an impression on him that he'll include us in future tours!

It wasn't bad when PVD performed there. They shut the whole place down and the only people allowed in were folks who had tickets and were there to see van Dyk.

Yeah, but it's 7 clubs in one. What did they do? Raise the walls so everybody could see him? There's not room enough in CityWalk to support the fans that will want to see Tiesto. Still need a bigger venue. If I were promoting him I'd find a larger place.

Why not rent an empty warehouse or building for a day to host this. Kind of like the underground parties of the late 90's.

PVD is good...Tiesto is next to BT in claiming the title of GOD. There's no comparison...Tiesto will pull a much larger crowd.

Renting an old warehouse is a great idea and one that I'd wholeheartedly endorse if the promoters managed to find one that was already wired properly and up to fire code, those would be two very large hurdles.

You know the one really large club that typically plays top 40 and hip hop that has a second-level up above it where there are windows overlooking the lower dance floor? That whole area is where they had the PVD show. The other clubs were shut down and they had them sealed off. The number of people who were there and the size of that venue was just right.

I agree, I would much rather see him somewhere besides CityWalk or a Bricktown Club, that's not my thing. Not to mention he can fill a better place than any Bricktown Club.

I wouldn't call or treat him like God, but he is a HUGE name around the globe. I'd compare Tiesto to U2 for all those non electronic fans. A warehouse show with his full light show would be ridiculously awesome. I still think a warehouse or zoo amphiteatre at night would be the best! Here he is at the 02 in London last year.

I know we're not Glasgow (city pop ~581k; metro pop ~1.2mil) but...

again, not Copenhagen (city pop ~1.2 mil; metro pop 1.9 mil) but...

I think we can do better than a barn burner at City Walk. No offense to PVD's performance who's making the kind of strides Tiesto did to get to where he is now.

Some dj's do produce music and play live keyboards on top of the tracks they are playing, but the duty of a dj is to make people dance. A good dj is able to look at the crowd he is playing to and tap into what will appeal to the spectrum of people he is performing for and allow them to get the funk down. The artistry comes into play with his track selections and the ability to seamlessly weave songs together. And yes, it takes just as much skills as anyone playing the guitar or any other instrument.

And zoo amp is too large, I already suggested it.

I don't get why zooamp would be too large. Seems like a simple roll or three of orange construction mesh could mark off an area and funnel folks to the lower bowl down by the stage. Based on the Y Tubes, attendees seem to prefer to be elbow to elbow anyway so herding them into a tighter area shouldn't be much of an issue, so long as no one shoots the cattle which escape.

My tastes don't generally lean to techno, but the sounds in those clips weren't displeasing.

Seems to me the biggest negative of zooamp would be their early shut it down time. I suspect most who would attend wouldn't care for the party to end well before 11 pm.

Is the Zoo too large for attendance numbers or venue price?

For anybody that is interested, tickets are now on sale at www.inthebooth.com.
I just bought two general admission tickets $25 apiece. As small as that floor is, I'd order NOW! Just a head's up!

Part if the appeal is dancing into the early hours. The PVD afterparty was probably the most people that anatomy (southside afterhours club) has ever had.

It's been a while since I bought tickets for any kind of concert. Kinda wish these were actual tickets, so I could add them to my concert tickets collection!

Too old and slow for that myself these days, but yeah, that section of the memory still works, even if the feets say get yerself back to bed.

@ Tiesto...nowhere near the cheese of Oakenfold, but damn near the same type of following. It's nice to see OKC get a big name DJ, though.

Well, I'm sure Dave Mathews, Coldplay, Nickelback and Matchbox 20 are sharing a collective fist pump right now... And I'm sure they appreciate your support....

No offense was meant by my post. Tiesto coming to OKC is a big thing. He played at one of the Olympic ceremonies last time around and has headlined huge events on pretty much every continent. That speaks volumes. The ones you mentioned are almost casino showroom material now.

I'm new to this board, but some 6 or 7 years ago, when I was really into the whole "rave" thing, it seemed like there weren't many big names of that genre coming to OKC. I kept track of them via...okcraves.com. I was staying with family near Ardmore for a little mini vacation every 4-6 months. I wante dto get out of the house for a coupla hours, but OKC...I dunno. Perhaps being an hour from the State Palace in New Orleans spoiled me, but when a city that was actually bigger than NOLA population-wise had a near dead scene, it made no sense to me. I guess it is comparing apples to oranges, two totally different cities.
