Great, now I can't listen to the latest Judas Priest CD without singing "I am Metrodamus"
They never broke my will
Because my heart was strong
They can't justify
I will survive
He has overpowered
It's his finest hour
Metrodamus; vindication
Metrodamus; is avenged
Metrodamus; our salvation
Metrodamus; he's avenged
Yep, good thing I still have British Steel and Ram It Down.
Yeah, I won't post any more breaking news or post behind the scenes photos and renderings I have of upcoming projects after the newest Core To Shore models thread I just posted. You all can go back to reading about Southside Memories and Chick-Fil-A and I will go back to posting on others threads. You win, I'm sick of just trying to post information that hasn't been posted (and respecting others wishes who are the ones on the actual project for timed released of information) and getting flack for it.
Sweet.
Or, in this case, the information that there was going to be future information that hadn't been posted.I'm sick of just trying to post information that hasn't been posted
Again, see MTP thread, page 1 for recent breaking news or C2S models thread.
I said this in the other thread and I'm going to say it here: gang, this seems like overkill at this point. A message has been sent by Metro's critics and either he's receptive to that criticism or not. At this point this appears to be turning into a personal attack. Metro has taken issue with me here as well, but I will argue that he's very pasionate about Oklahoma City and seems to have the best intentions toward making it better. When it comes to voice and delivery, we've all got our good and bad moments (and please, please don't remind me of my bad moments - I know I've had a few!)

Nothing wrong with being passionate about Oklahoma City, just don't be such a butthole about it.
I don't want to add to the piling on but feel there is an issue with confidentiality that some are willing to protect. as mentioned, many of us on the board are "in the know" but choose to wait for the appropriate time and place. and as far as the models, renderings, etc., isn't there an issue with copyright protection regarding architects' renderings?
oh where is that crazy video of that guy crying leave britney alone, we need it one here for metro.. instead of saying britney alone it needs to say metro, can any find it and link it. i think it fits this thread well
i think this might work let me know.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHmvkRoEowc
WOW @ that video. Is that a joke?
If the architect's renderings are newsworthy, i.e., matters of public concern, no, I don't think a copyright claim is going to work. In fact, I think a leak of a picture of those renderings might even be a matter of public concern, thus protected by the 1st Amendment.
I don't claim to be an expert in copyright law, or know anything about it, or have even stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but as far as I know, metro could create an alterego here and leak everything well before he does. But for the love of all that is holy, don't think I'm authoritative or even have the remotest idea about what I'm talking about on this point, I'm just saying I could make an argument.. no idea how it'd hold up.
I have jokingly encouraged him to do so in the past because I really don't care about secrecy, nor do I like back room discussions happening out of the public eye regarding what will be done with potentially hundreds of millions of public dollars. The more of that we can have leaked, the better. I don't want any city official or developer to think they're safe behind closed doors.
Heck.. in a very real sense, these renderings, if they were paid for by public moneys are public property, so they'd even be open to disclosure pursuant to the Open Records Act.
Hiding behind closed doors and secrecy on these sort of matters is not in the best interest of the public, and depending on who is doing the talking and hiding, it may not even be legal. Don't fault metro. He's one of the personalities which makes this board as valuable a place to visit as it is.
my understanding (and i'm no lawyer) is that the creator of the drawing, photo, etc. is the copyright holder. just because you have access to the drawings (photos) as a client you do not "own" them. So if it was me, i would be super careful about posting ANY images online.
nope the video is real, leave metro alone!!!!!!
OH please I know something about somehting but I'm not going to tell till its time to tell. Then WHY MENTION IT>>>>
I'm not a lawyer either, but I do understand that in some cases, copyright has been held to not protect matters of public concern because the First Amendment trumps copyright. Here, we're talking about a proposed expenditure of hundreds of millions in public funds in a subject which is being prepared for a public vote for a sales tax to fund these projects. You'd be very hard pressed to argue that this isn't a matter of public concern.
Further, if the city or a public entity contracted for those renderings and has them on file, they should be subject to the Freedom of Information Act.
At any rate, I highly doubt one of those copyright holders is going to send Pete a DMCA take down notice, and in the extremely unlikely event that such a thing happens, I'll bet Pete takes the images down. Until that happens, unless you're an aggrieved party, it's really not any of your business, is it?
Metro is providing what some here think is a valuable service. He shouldn't have to listen to the bellyaching of unaffected parties carrying on about the extraordinarily rare possibility that there might be copyright infringement on the internet.
Let's talk about Chickfila. I miss it being downtown. I really wish Tanenbaum hadn't forced it out during renovation of Park Harvey.
He got a terrific men's clothing store in its place. That's worked out extremely well.
-- I actually did like Clayborne's. I just think a store which focuses on English-style clothing is going to have a rough go of it through the Oklahoma Summer heat when tweed and such aren't going to be popular choices.
It was mentioned that people was getting emails about it, then those people will go on to forward to family and friends. They will also talk about it to family and friends in person and on the phone. It spread and spread.
It was also mentioned that more people had seen about the announcement of the event becoming official on TV and other sources before Metro's post.
So, basically, all of this was happening at around the time that Metro said he could not tell us. Why did he have to say he can not tell us when it clearly was already reaching the public? I feel that he knew this specific info was already reaching the public, so he should have inform us and save all those guessing posts and start discussing.
All of this is over now. No need to discuss about Metro any further. All we do is continue discussing the event and the quality of the river.
okay this topic is kinda like theme park, if something new and exciting is planned for next year and the employees got a heads up onwhat it is and they where asked not to let the at out of the bag until the big public announcement, i have nothing against that employee if they are telling me something cool is coming but they cant say just yet...why is it different with what metro is doing.. not fighting just asking whats the diffence, maybe its somehing i missed in past post of with all of metros post, but whats the craziness about
I'm guessing it was out of respect to the people who wanted to feel like they were announcing something no one else knew... or that people wanted to feel like they were insiders and wanted to feel special that they knew something no one else did or whatever.
All of it is petty BS. Bring on the leaks.
okay thunder i will stop as well with the metro issue.. so umm ummm lets see here ummm ohh has anyone tried the new jimmys eggs in moore yet? sorry thats all i have right now
