Thread: Bruno in Oklahoma?

    Default Bruno in Oklahoma?

I know Sacha Baron Cohen, disguised as Borat, met with the Oklahoma City Traffic Commission a few years back; I believe he may have struck Oklahoma City again in his new movie, Bruno.

According to one who was present at the screening, the character was "in the heart of Oklahoma..." (Oklahoma City?) "...in a cage making out with a guy".

I googled "Sacha Baron Cohen - Bruno - Oklahoma" but I came up with no results. To my knowledge, the local media has not covered anything and no reports have surfaced of his activity in OKC. At the present time, I have nothing more than this clip on YouTube, but I think residents of Oklahoma City may be shocked when they see their fellow neighbors ridiculed by this master of disguise.

The video, which contains a few four-letter words, may not be safe for work. The reference to Oklahoma is at 1:45.

By the way, Borat's appearance in Oklahoma City was not a part of the movie. Rather, the material was featured as a skit on his HBO hit, Da Ali G Show.

Can a mod embed these? I suck.

If Sacha Baron Cohen was going to play as the flamboyant Bruno for his movie, this would have been the perfect state for him to visit.

I agree. I can only imagine the reactions he likely received here.

Think about it, you may very well see one of your neighbors on film!

    Interesting....

I didn't know that he came to Oklahoma, but I do know that a similar incident occurred in Fort Smith Arkansas and pretty much a riot broke out.

Maybe the announcer got confused on which side of I-40 he was on....lets hope.

I don't know what's funnier to me ... that cage fighin' crowds got punk'd, or that they paid $5 for the honor. Then again, they did get really cheap beer during the visit.

I saw that and wondered if this was going to be similar to Borat, in which the movie depicted certain events in "Texas", although they were originally shot in West Virginia. I considered the possibility of the the shots being in Arkansas, but I wanted to get the word out as soon as possible. I could have an egg on my face by mid-July, but I really had good intentions. Besides, it's that guy's fault for saying "in the heart of Oklahoma".

Well, some folks don't know the difference between eastern Oklahoma and far western Arkansas

Okay, before I hit the sack, I thought I would update this thread now that Bruno is in theaters. I just came back from watching Bruno and it was a humorous and edgy flick. I apologize about possibly misleading anyone, for I was wrong with my speculation of possible scenes being filmed in Oklahoma. However, I can tell why the initial reviewer may have been mistaken or at least had Oklahoma on the brain. During a particular scene, a man was wearing an OU shirt, which stuck out like a sore thumb. Sadly, he did not appear to be an Oklahoma fan of fine repute. Anyways, the movie was funny and enjoyable, though it may be too offensive for some. If you have seen Borat, you should know what to expect.

Anyways, I'm off to bed for the evening. Good night OKCTalkers!

For shock value I give the guy some credit (how much talent does that take and why do hard up actors always pander to the homosexual community to bolster their careers?)
Personally I rate entertainment by how it holds up over the long haul. No doubt to me that this guys "schtick" will trigger my gag reflex when looked at years later. I'm reminded of Andy Kaufman here..
