There may be since they started out of Milwaukee and have had a much longer presence in some of the Upper Midwest markets. Everything that I have seen in this part of the country is their typical stand alone in a big-box mall type of building.

Things like AMC, Residence Inn, Texas Roadhouse, and the Crossroads Security Office certainly don't count as stores, and at least a few of the others are just kiosks. And on top of that, the majority of the stores there are locally owned. I think locally owned businesses are great (and I do actively try to buy locally as much as I can)...but the majority of the stores being low-rent locally owned shops isn't a good sign for a mall. And a lot of the chain stores that are still there are high-margin stores that can get by for a while in a "dead" mall...ie jewelry and athletic shoe stores.

I'll bet Hot Topic will be the next to bolt. I'm suprised American Eagle is still there.

Those stores seem to be doing fairly good with traffic the last several times I've been there over the last couple of months.

People don't realize that traffic inside the mall is fairly good.

My guess is that Victoria's Secret will close next.

I went to Crossroads Thursday because I was in the area...it really wasn't that dead. There were people/families there....shopped at VS. They had really good selection of merchandise (compared to Sooner Mall), which leads me to believe that not many people are buying things there.

They do have a nice selection, no long lines and clerks who are happy to help you.

My guess is that as leases set to expire there will be more closures, some stores may be staying open because it is cheaper for them to than to terminate leases.

I don't know how anyone can even remotely think there's any life left in this mall. I mean, all 4 major anchors are gone! Come on!

At least when the bulldoze the building, they won't have to go very far to the landfill!

    Well now this is interesting.

So I've mentioned here on this thread, a few times, about my dreams of seeing this mall redone.

Some here think it was random dreaming, or wishful thinking.

I was drawing out my dream from late last year today while at work, and showing it to mu aunt.

She laughed at me for a bit, and decided to call the mall. I don't know why she would, as this is a dream. It isn't like the mall could answer any questions my dreams come to tell me.

    Or can they?

She then calls the mall, and asks are you remodelling the mall (again I am facepalming, as something like that would be too soon,) and they reply, "How did you know that?" She then clarified, "so you are remodelling the mall." To which they supposedly said, "The new owners have plans."

So yeah, who knows. I cannot believed she called them based on my dream. I would've rathered see first if it happens, or maybe I was dreaming about a mall I haven't been to yet, but looked so familiar.

In anycase, she called and that convo took place. She hung up the phone and looked at me wierd, as if I was some fruitloop for seeing what could potentially be an awesome looking mall.

I think what came from that convo from my aunt and whoever she spoke to at the mall is interesting to say the least.

I was at Crossroads for a bit on Friday afternoon; didn't venture too far into it, went in the door by Eyemasters & just went inside far enough to go to the AT&T store. It looks like the Journey's shoe store on that first corner is going away...it was full of boxes & sale signs. Went in to Hot Topic, their stock was pretty slim...the store seemed bare compared to what I see at other malls. I asked the clerk if they were going out of business anytime soon & she said that they were going to hang on for a while, as she put it "wait things out." She said that because the mall has such a high vacancy that there's a lot more leniency with them when they do their special promotions (CD release parties, etc). No one around to complain if the noise gets too loud or the crowd spills out into the mall. There were quite a few people around, just a noticable lack of places to shop

And for the record, I didn't see any gangs :P

There will be a few stores that hang on for a good long while. Besides it is not like takes more than a few days to shut down a mall store.

In dire situations they will just transfer the stock to other stores and remove the fixtures. The employees can be moved to others stores in the area. I can almost bet the majority of the stores in Crossroads have no more than 5-10 employees.

Most of the chain stores are waiting until sales or foot traffic drops below a set number.

megax11, you give us hope for the future of Crossroads Mall.

Scan your drawings and post on here. Give us an insight on the facelift.

Well like I said, sometimes I have dreams that feel so real, they come true. Actually more often than not.

I don't have a scanner sadly, but I will state again what I see in my dreams.

Dream 1: I was walking in from outside, near the picadilly wing. The exterior of the mall was being rebuilt a bit, to be a more rounded structure, instead of square. I remember looking inside one of the wings which was closed for remodel. It was all gray and new looking. So I went in the picadilly entrance, and saw stores I had never seen before in any OKC malls. I remember looking at the walls.

They were white/black marble, with green/white marble pillars. Very-very fancy looking. I then looked at the floor, and it was four squares that were white/black marble, with a green/white marble diamond per every four squares.

I remember that wing looking very kick ass.

Dream 2: This dream started out like the dreams you know would be fake, but I ended up in what is the center of the mall, sort of near Chic-fil-A, so I didn't look behind me. This is when the dream felt real.

I remember standing on carpet. Either light beige, or brownish, and the stores had a feel that they were cut shorter, and were more wide stores. Around this area was a guest information booth, or security booth (no longer behind an escalator.)

A friend was with me. Ironically, I had told this friend recently about my dream. However, in my dream I told him "see I told you my dreams come true. This is what I told you about before, and showed him one of the pillars, as we were walking by."

So that's that. I hope the dream comes true. Then maybe the empty lots surrounding the mall will get fixed up with all kinds of businesses. At least the mall would be rejuvenated. Who knows.

All I know is I've had a dream twice, where I have seen this mall redone, and both dreams were consistent.

Guess only time will tell. Here's hoping. I do find it odd my aunt decided to call, and they told her that some new owners are about to take over and do something with the place, so that was some news I was posting earlier (or potential news anyway.)

i can't say i've ever dreamed about a remodeled crossroads mall. . . lol but those are interesting plans, especially considering crossroads comment of "we have plans". . .

I'm a bit surprised that stores in Crossroads that have a fairly big customer base (American Eagle and possibly others) don't pack up and move to Moore. When I went into Crossroads not too long ago, it looked like a lot of the people in the mall were carrying around shopping bags from AE. I think they'd do *really* well in Moore...it's a suburb with plenty of high school kids that probably go to Norman or Penn Square to shop there and similar stores anyway. And I know that AE and similar stores don't typically locate in strip malls, but stores that traditionally locate in malls are increasingly locating in other types of shopping centers. (for instance in Stillwater there is a strip mall that has Buckle, AE, Claire's, and a few other "mall" stores.)

That's odd because I thought the mall didn't sell at the auction a month or so ago.
