Not sure if we'll make it to the midnight show but first in line the next day... lol, I've spent hours with my kids trying to transform the damn toys when they were little .. I remember Megatron.. that one was a killer.

My youngest lad has a strong appreciation for the Fox lass. The robots have been transformed into mere bit players as a result.

i still hold the 1986 film in high regard. theres simply too much human interaction in the 2007 film, and its likely to follow suit in this anticipated sequel, although they promised more action and less talk.

maybe we will get a better storyline this time around too, we will see.

Got tickets last week for a showing this weekend. Everything else was already sold out...granted I stick to the balcony at the Warren. LOL

Already got Harry Potter taken care of to - since those were selling out fast and it is still a month away. I know I know...Harry Potter. Hush. :-P

just got back from seeing this film...and heres my input on it

ok, FIRST OFF,...Im a big TF fan..grew up in the 80s, played with the toys, watched the cartoons, and am fairly knowledgeable on TF mythos.

realizing that some 25 years have elapsed since their heyday, im willing and lenient to accept certain changes to the TF universe overall.

The movie is somewhat of a rehash and borrows elements from the 1986 animated film as well. There is also heavy product placement: Mountain Dew, Uhaul (called J-Haul in this film), and for some odd reason the film shows posters from the films "Cloverfield" & "Bad Boys II" rather prominently in the background during recurring scenes.

This movie is better than the first, but that aint saying too much. The best part about this movie is the annoying absense of Anthony Andersen from the first film, which proves to be a godsend in this film.

Meagan Fox reprises her role from the first film, which is essentially the exact same role: nothing more than eye-candy for the testosterone-driven members of the audience. Other than that, she is non-essential to the storyline other than serving as a mere contributing physical element to the cliche love story this film tries desperately to establish, but falls short of admist all the ruckus that is also transpiring.

The film finally gets Devastator correct: a gestalt consisting of 6 construction vehicles/robots merging to form one super robot. However, to those unfamiliar with him, the film fails miserably at convincing his true menacing stature, and always shows him with his head hung low to the ground like he is some sort of mechanical canine (i believe this was done for camera perspective reasons, in an effort to show a close-up of his facial features alongside the facial features of the human actors within the same shot)

Mudflap and Skids are featured prominently in the movie, in an obvious attempt at marketing GM's new VOLT automobile. They are both senseless characters whose comical antics serve as nothing more than waifish attempts to conjure humor from the audience.

There are, what appears to be Arcee clones in the film as well, as Pink, Blue, Green driverless motorcycles with the ability to project a hologram of a female human rider on top in vehicle mode.

Arcee, along with Sideswipe and Sideways are featured limited in the film, almost to the point where the majority of the mainstream audience wont even recall their appearance in the film, as their lines are quite limited.

Peter Cullen reprises his vocal role of Optimus Prime, and Hugo Weaving reprises the role of Megatron,.however, this sequel is unique in that it also features vocal talent from Frank Welker..the original voice of Megatron from the 80s cartoons. He provides the voice of Soundwave and well as a few other Decepticons, but you cant help but to think of what a dishonor it must have been that he couldnt reprise the role of Megatron: the role he was most famous for.

The film borrows heavily on key elements from the 1986 animated film: The Matrix, The death of Optimus Prime.

The action scenes in this film are stellar, and is the best attribute of this film. The storyline is better, but moves much faster than the speed of the first film, since needed character introductions were already established in the first film.

The film has several needless scenes and elements that could have been removed and still made the film understanable. Sam Witwicky's parents simply arent really needed in this film at all, and the storyline moves just fine without the need of their onscreen presence. The same holds true with Sam's friend, and Megan Fox.

The military involvement of the first film is continued in this sequel, but doesnt lay as heavily upon it to move the story along.

The film introduces the characters of Wheelie and Jetfire/Skyfire..and while the latter was indeed a Decepticon initially in the comics and cartoon, just as he is presented here, Wheelie never was a Decepticon, but for some reason he is initially featured as one.

Bumblebee is rarely called by his full moniker, and is referred to only as "Bee" by Sam. A great action scene is when Bumblebee takes on his classic nemesis, Ravage: a mechanical panther with one sole eye.

It still remains unclear to me how Bumblebee tackles Devastator by himself.

The film could have done so much better in terms of moving the mythos of the storyline along smoothly, and lacks considerably with dialogue, acting, convinceability with the ways some of the actors dont know how to act.

the fact youre a teen raises eyebrows from the elder audience who remembers the cartoons and toys from the 80's. the fact youre giving it high praise brings up the question of how knowledgeable you are with G1 line-up.

I think overall the film was good, but im not placing it on the highest of accolades either, there were many things i saw that could have been improved.

Having Soundwave just hangout in orbit during the entire film without coming down to earth to engage in battle was just retarded. even more retarded was that he never transformed once during the whole movie, but remained in satellite mode-WITH HIS HEAD HANGING OUT...like the audience couldnt figure out he was a transformer at all, unless his head was visable.

uhh...how bout a decepticon symbol??..it worked for jetfire in the museum!

dont even get me started on the film panning in close on Devastator's testicles..(YESS...Im not lying, folks...theres a short scene in battle where it shows Devastator tearing up one of the Egyptian pyramids and shows a pair of steel wrecking balls clanking together between his legs....most of the audience didnt catch it...but there was a few laughs from more knowledgeable members of the audience.)
