Prune's posts on Ridgecrest made me smile. Long ago memories from my youth, being at Ridgecrest for a spell and then some site seeing and then on to hug Momma Rose and most of my momma's kin.

I agree with you Pruner the plant was set there and then closed and the products were farmed out to smaller facilities.....There was one of their best plants located in Temple, Oklahoma in Cotton County....The building was over by the USPS station....
> Western NC is a beautiful place.
> They've got some new hotels at Ridgecrest.
It surely is. My Momma hails from sw of Rutherfordton, but by the time my memories began to truly take hold, Spindale was home for her folks, Momma Rose and Lester, and Forest City just down the road had been staked out by a passle of the kinfolk.
I never saw a motel one at Ridgecrect while growing up. For us, the town itseld dinna really exist. We were always over at the RBA (Ridgecrest Baptist Assembly) grounds. I believe it's called something or other conference center now, but if memory serves it remains a conference center. More white painted cinder block in that one location than I ever saw anywhere. But it was a fun place in the day.

Hello, General!
Hey, once a southsider always a southsider. I'm no sellout! :-)
I hope everyone is well. Over the last several months, I've been dealing with a lot of sickness, hospitals, etc. with the older members of my family and extended family. Hubby and I were planning to come to the last get together and sure enough, a big wrench was thrown into it.
I promise I will meet all of you someday. I'm looking forward to it.
I'm getting ready to leave for Lawton to get my brace wires crimped. Will be braces free in about a month. Woo hoo!

Only when he needs his teeth floated............
It's funny how you can be around something all your life and then one day "wake-up" and say wait a minute.
Does anyone know why S.W. 25 at Blackwelder to Agnew is divided? Is it a streetcar thing?
Just never thought to ask until now.
Just all the sudden hits ya' don't it.
I didn't put it on the Doug threads because we got irate when it was said Capitol Hill went that far west. And he is "cleaning up" the two on the Hill.
I want to get out soon and get some photos to finish mine out. Did add a view of Brown's entry and the correct location for Jack and Jill's. Thanks again SouthSide Girl.

Does anyone remember an artist by the name Silas Call? Not sure of spelling. I remember he did alot of scenery painting. I'am not real fond of his work but, I remember he used to come to the dances at the Lions Club and the winner of the musical chairs won one of his pictures. I have seen some of his pictures in many places in OKC.
im surprised no one here remembers the Casa Bonita restaurant that existed off of I-240 and penn (n.w. corner), circa 1983-84.
they had a casa bonita in tulsa as late as 2005, then it closed down.
Seems to be an echo going through this thread....Did all of our memories go away down memory lane? Just because this thread is so long and people have enjoyed it so much ....where is everyone????? Roll Call Please:.....Generals64...next
