But yeah like Lauri101 I don't buy alot of frozen food and I do buy store brand for simple items.

So SuperChris, are there any other stores in Yukon besides Homeland and Walmart? I don't know much of what is out there (I do remember passing the Albertson's when I used to do fieldwork out there - assuming that is the Homeland you went to). Just curious. Glad you had fun doing the comparison though!

I'm thinking I might post one of these in a bit (I'll be away for a month on business though, I'll do it in May sometime). I would like to make a list of the items I buy, a price comparison, a quality description if one is valid, etc. I think I am going to compare Walmart, Super Target, Crest, and Homeland.

***My hypothesis is, I bet if you look at fresh foods mostly (produce, dairy, meats/fish), the prices won't be that different***
The Homeland I went to is the old Albertson's. We have a Buy For Less also, but it's worse than going to Wal-Mart.

Lauri, the Homeland Brands are good quality. When we need something quick, if the Homeland Brand is available, we get it.

Like I said before, you do have to watch Homeland's sales. They will run some specials that are excellent! I should note that we buy Potatoes at Homeland. The quality, and price is much better than Wal-Mart for a 5-10lb bag. I did not list out things that we buy at Homeland as opposed to Wal-Mart such as Potatoes, and meat. That may be a list for another week. I need to take our Homeland receipt into Wal-Mart.

Crest on Douglas Blvd. in Midwest City. I love how they carry my favorite greek yogurt ***e and goats milk by Meyenberg. I also like the Wal-Mart on 23rd near Spencer, because they stock up on the newest flavors of both Haagen-Dazs and Ben & Jerry's ice cream. My favorite is Haagen-Dazs Caramelized Hazelnut Gianduja, and that's the only place that carries it. For cheese I only go to Forward Foods in Norman, they have an excellent selection. I just wish Oklahoma had a Trader Joes. I like Trader Joes more than I do Whole Foods. We need more organic health food markets. The Health Food Center on I-240 and Penn is great for packaged foods, but their organic produce is not very fresh.

I tried Crescent today. Walked every aisle, really spent sometime comparing prices and walked out without buying anything. WAY OVERPRICED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing special. The same jelly that sells for $2.99 at Central Market was $6 or $7.

We'll just continue to drive to Dallas once a month. Shopping and road trip in one....what's not to love? And, with the money I save by NOT shopping at Crescent, I can fill the gas tank AND buy my motel room.

My favorite is Crest, for sheer value, followed closely by El Mariachi Supermercado for their beautiful produce and meat department, not to mention delicious Latin Sodas, and CHEAP fresh baked goods.

I googled this and noticed there's two locations for El Mariachi Supermercado in OKC. One is on NW 16th and the other is SW 59th. Which one are you talking about?
