The American Legion Post #35 is having a car and truck show May 23 in the mall parking lot. The manager said that ownership would change to a bank and would have no effect on us.
Hmm, so that means no renovations I guess?
I said this before earlier in this topic, but I had a dream in December, where this mall was being renovated.
It looked REALLLL nice.
It had green marble pillars between the stores, or at least one of the stores.
The flooring was green marble, with mainly white marble flooring.
I remember walking into the mall from the outside, and even the outside was getting a facelift in the way of a more rounded structure, instead of a boxy look.
Here's hoping that dream will come true, and that mall will come alive and look as good, if not better then quail and penn.

Crossroads Mall reverts to lender
Bankrupt Crossroads Mall’s fate remains in question
Crossroads Mall went back to the lender, which was the only bidder at a sheriff’s sale Thursday.
Crossroads Malls’ mortgage holder is now holding the mall, too.
Maiden Lane Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities Trust offered the only bid for the mall Thursday at the Oklahoma County sheriff’s sale, so it went back to the lender.
Crossroads Mall went into foreclosure late last year.
The bid was $11.24 million, about $1 million above the county assessor’s estimated market value of $10.23 million. The assessor’s value for the troubled mall plummeted from $48.9 million in 2008.
However, the bid, under law, had to be at least two-thirds of the property’s appraised value, said the receiver, Jim Parrack of Price Edwards & Co., which has been managing the property under foreclosure. That puts the appraisal at about $15 million.
After the bankruptcy court confirms the sale, the lender will be able to put the mall on the market, he said. Meanwhile, it’s business as usual at the mall, where the sheriff’s sale will go largely unnoticed, he said.
"It means nothing at the mall level. It will continue to be open and operate as normal,” Parrack said.
The future of the mall, at the intersection of Interstate 40 and I-35 on Oklahoma City’s south side, remains as uncertain as ever, however.
Property specialists have questioned whether the property will remain as a retail center, especially with retail in decline nationally amid a recession, and credit woes continuing to stymie investment.
Crossroads have the potential. The ecomony is great right now to be spending on a SERIOUS revonations. Just look at Devon Energy! I know the mall doesn't have an anchor, but the stores that is left inside seem to be holding on quite well. We, the people, the citizens of the state of Oklahoma, need to start shopping at Crossroads, no matter what, it is the only way to show that, we the people of the state of Oklahoma, is still interested in this frickin historic mall! I shopped there the other day and spent $30 for some Mother's Day gifts. Mother's Day is coming up on May 10th, so get out there, buy a thing or two!
My personal opinion on this matter is that Crossroads Mall has served it's purpose at one time, however, changing demographics and the malls reputation as a shady, gang infested place basically has sealed it's fate. What few stores are left are one's I personally would not shop at. The mall in my opinion is on it's last leg.
Many times I've been to the mall, never once....NEVER ONCE....have I ever witness any gang activities....INCLUDING NIGHTS!
I don't want the mall to die. I tell you this, I shop more at Crossroads than PSM. I have not been to QSM for many years.
Sounds like you're a southsider!
I used to love going to Crossroads when I visited the city as a child. The Dillard's where I bought my first Guess jean jacket and the Foleys where I bought Swatches... Ahh memories. And the arcade where my cousins and I would spend hours was so much fun. That was 20 years ago.
The mall has come full circle. It's sad, but it's lifecycle is over. Let it die already. Tear it down, and let the land be redeveloped for a new use.
Maybe proud P.B. Odom, III could buy it and do something with it.
Actually, three...Unfortunately they are battling against two stout forces
Word of mouth is what's trying to kill Crossroad's. The more people talk about it in the negative sense, the faster it might happen.
Crossroad's Mall is ALIVE AND WELL! It conveniently houses 100 stores under one roof. The merchants are friendly and helpful, no long lines or waits for service. Great sales and THEY WANT YOUR BUSINESS. When was the last time you shopped and the salesperson seemed genuinely happy to help you?
We have a stake in the survival of this great mall. The wonderful leasing company, Price Edwards has a HUGe heart for troops. For almost two years now, they have hosted The Hugs Project and given us both a storefront and utilities in order that we could have a workspace and be able to support American troops serving in harm's way.
This past Christmas, we were able to ship out 2,760 care packages those deployed in service to our country. We've sent over 600,000 cooling ties that reduce body core temps and save lives and each week (year around) we send out between 30-40 boxes of love and support to those in harm's way. We could NOT do this if not for the generosity of Crossroad's Mall.
Please come shop and while there, drop by Suite 1048, located by the Sheriff's Office off center court. We're open every W, Th and Sat. from 10-4, sometimes later. We'd love to see you and so would the merchants. OKC needs this mall and the revenue it creates. The Hugs Project and our troops need your support too.
Hope to see you soon,
Karen
Another reason to shop at the mall!!!
Thunder's right - - - I'm there 3 times a week, all hours of the day and night. I let my wife shop there alone without worry....and I LOVE my wife. lol
If anything, this mall has more security than the others in OKC. They have their own security AND a sheriff's office AND usually a uniformed OKC police officer or two. They are trying to turn around the nay sayers who think it's unsafe and it's worked on me - I'm a believer!
They have even enacted Family shopping hours. Anyone under the age of 18 must leave the mall at 6 PM on the weekends unless they are accompanied by a parent and IT'S STRICTLY ENFORCED!!!
To those of you who are trying to kill this mall by badmouthing it every chance you get - Don't try telling others anything about the mall unless you have been there a time or two sometime in the last year or so because if you do, you aren't telling it like it is.
But, I suppose that there are always some people who think they are experts on everything.

Northsiders beware the world drops off sharp just two blocks south of I-40.
They've already beefed up security. Have you even been there in the last few years? The place is adequately (overly?) covered with mall security, a sheriff's station and usually a city man or two. What's are customers.
karenagypsy's right - It's a great place to shop and the merchant's are delighted to see me and have my business. Are they glad to see you where you usually shop?

Whoever is knocking southside because they feel they live in a place that has it better, is demonstrating arrogance at its best.
Ironically that arrogance will come around full circle, and destroy them from within first. Then they will live a life of regret. Take it from someone who knows what arrogance brings.
Southside needs the businesses Moore, Norman, and northside are attracting, and I would love to see this mall renovated.
However, what I have learned from the mall merchants, is that the mall charges an insane amount of rent, and when people there suggested the mall be renovated, since everything inside except for the ceiling is circa 1974, they were shrugged off.
That mall has serious potential. It is massive, and wide open, but it will have to start with someone who is dedicated enough to see it flourish like Quail and especially Penn Square, are... Once they redo the inside, make it look really nice, I bet stores would come back, if they made the price reasonable enough...
Do you think Dillards and JC Penny like being away from the metro? I bet they don't. They have no other choice though. I would've moved too, if you heard some of the things I have about the mall's owners.
I would so love to see that mall renovated inside and out. That would help in the development of the areas outside the mall. The strip mall outside the mall, Best Buy would probably stay after their lease is up, and all of the empty areas outside the huge circle surrounding the mall, would be beefed up with new businesses.
I gaurentee it. However, as long as the owners keep up with phony excuses about how strip malls are taking their business away (while Penn Square is not hurting at all,) and malls are a dying breed, then nothing will happen. They have to man up, not make excuses, if this mall is to make a comeback.
I've lived in Moore all my life, so it saddens me that so many businesses have pulled out of Crossroads. I'm not letting that stop me from shopping there. I'd much rather go to Crossroads, where I can get decent parking & run right in, pick up what I need & get out in a flash - as opposed to having to deal with the nightmare that is PSM & QSM. With regards to the "gang activity" at Crossroads, there have been a few isolated incidents of crime but nothing to my knowledge that's really been considered gang related. Like someone before me stated, they've got family hours now & more than adequate security. In most recent news, isn't PSM where people are getting attacked in the parking garage?
yes it always seems like psm is where the parking lot attacks occur.
yep, I believe there have been multiple attacks in the penn square mall parking garage. anyone else think the name of this thread needs to be changed? they did it for coffee slingers....lol
It seems it has happened on more than one occasion, however, maybe the reason is that PSM serves a more wealthy, affluent demographic area so the crooks from all other parts of the city know they can hit up people with more disposable incomes in my own personal opinion. As I mentioned before, CRM is dumpy, ratty mall that has served it's purpose. They need to bulldoze that building along with all the other trashy areas and start over again.
Heritage Park Mall is not dead!
lol.
