Did Lakeside Seafood Grill close? I see the domain is for sale, and is no longer listed among Pearl's list of restaurants. What all is being offered along Lake Hefner now?

Any update on East Wharf would be much appreciated.

Lakeside Fish Grill is NOT closed. It is not a Pearls restaurant. If you google Hal Smith Restaurant Group, it should be listed along with Charleston's and fellow East Whart restaurant Red Rock.

They're food is the best seafood in OKC, IMHO.

Oh good (sigh of relief). My wife and I plan to dine there on our next Oklahoma City vacation. Plus, they are one of my book's recommendations and it's too late to make changes.

Seafood in Houston is pretty much on par with what you can find in OKC. Trust me, Houstonians are more into BBQ and Mexican than seafood.

I hate Chicken Fried Steak. The idea that you bread perfectly good meat and then fry it is a disservice to steak IMO. Being an OKC ex-pat, Lakeside was one of my favorite restaurants. You can enjoy good seafood at a restaurant on the shore of my favorite rec spot. It's an experience I would recommend to others. Just because it's Oklahoma doesn't mean you should point people in the direction of the grease vats.

There were 10 must-dine at restaurants I recommended, and Lakeside Fish Grill was just one of them. Cattlemen's of course, is on the list as well.

Our opinions will just have to differ on that. I don't disagree, I just differ. There are a lot of good seafood places in Houston, but to me, Houston's only advantage is there is just simply more seafood restaurants.

I've dined at enough establishments to come to the conclusion that seafood in OKC is just as good, there are just a smaller number of establishments. And being a seafood lover, when I am in OKC, I am going to find a seafood restaurant. And I am going to Lakeside.

Just curious, metro, where did you dine while in Houston? I ate at Papadeaux and Landrys, both good places.

Fair warning about Lakeside. As it is NOT part of the Pearl's group restaurant any longer, there have been a few menu changes, so don't be disappointed if some of your favorites are gone.

Some of the top faves like the seafood tacos and Cedar Plank Salmon (my personal fave) are still on the menu, but a few other staples - including their hushpuppies - are gone.

I think either their Seafood Gumbo and/or Etouffe, recipes that had belonged to the Pearl's group, are also gone; certainly those that were more cajun-inspired.

The food's still tasty, though, and it's hard to beat the Lake Hefner sunset!

You'd find it odd that anything would be good in OKC. It's puzzling why you even bother posting here. All you do is come here and criticize our state and the fine people who live here. You're just bitter because the people here have no desire to be socialists like you. Get over it.

I grew up in Oklahoma City and lived off and on in OKC for a total of 47 years. Are only far-right opinions that border on (I can't say it) welcome here? Other people can live outside the state and post here - but of course, most of them agree with you politically.

Considering that Oklahoma City is REALLY not that far form the Gulf has little difference in taste. And many restaurants in Houston still haul much of their stock in from the Pacific Northwest and the Atlantic. If the menu says Atlantic salmon, it definitely isn't from the Gulf. Although some items are from Lake Pontchartrain in Louisiana.

Indeed, they do have fish from the Gulf on their menu, but if it's a fresh catch, it's out of my price range. It's always (market price), which isn't even on the menu, which means you don't know what you're paying until you get the bill.

Just because Houston sits on the Gulf doesn't necessarily make their seafood superior. It all goes into what the restaurant buys and how it is prepared.

I like the new Lakeside menu and feature items they have been doing better than the old. I really enjoy grilled halibut (a feature), and sometimes their yellowfin tuna recipe, which is Asian inspired. Their chilean sea bass is also always a treat and delicious. I also enjoy their mahi mahi. Its all so good.

Been awhile since I've been there and I honestly don't remember. I've been to the both you mentioned, we used to have a Landry's on NW Expressway where Joes Crab Shack is. Honestly, I don't really like seafood so....

Patio season opens Friday...pending the rain doesn't ruin it. I hope it waits until later to rain. I have been craving crab cakes and perfect margaritas. Neither of which are the same anywhere else or as good without the sounds of 2AM on the patio under a brilliant sunset!! yummmmmmm.
