Jalisco, Saltio, and Jaurez come to mind. My favorite was the chicken
ench. in sour cream Or the big schooners of beer

I used to love the corn tortillas with butter at El Charrito's (and most other places in OKC). Back east, I just can't find the sour cream chicken enchiladas and I miss them, so much. The Queso is not the same, either. Most places in OKC offer butter with the tortillas but around here, they look at you like you are nuts. One mexican restaurant that we go to knows that I like corn tortillas with butter so they bring that out and the butter is in a dish, melted. I am used to the little pats of butter from OKC but really appreciate that they go to the trouble.

I have vague memories of Stampede on 63rd and N. May where the PetsMart is (or was??). Bull riding, video games upstairs and a huge slide from the top floor to the bottom.

There was a bar at that corner and I mean right on the corner. Southwest corner of 63RD and May. Know the name of it?

Charlie's Chili, some friends parents owned it. We spent quite a bit of time there. It was behind the former gas station on 63rd.

I don't remember a Stampede there, when would that have been? I remember Confetti's, The Zoo, The Plum and a few others but no cowboy bar there. I don't think it had the ceiling height to be a two story space in there.

CHARLIE'S CHILI!!! THAT'S IT!! Went there in the early to mid-80's. The last bar of my wilder days.

Wasn't it called Charlie's? It's been several things.

I was surfing the 'Net trying to find a menu from El Charrito's. No luck.

However, I found some restaurants I don't believe have been mentioned.

Applewood’s - they went down fast after they moved.
    Reuben Rugby’s
    The Magic Pan
Domino’s - Where Flip's is now. Good burgers.
    Pick’s Fine Foods
Chi Chi’s - Prunette and I liked the fried ice cream.
    Godfather’s Pizza
Fred Gangs Meat Market - Really good!
Bonaparte's - A favorite drive in. Also in Shepherd Mall.
Split T - More great burgers.
    Orin's Pizza
    Hemi's Pizza
    Hotsy Hot Dogs
    Pizza Planet
    Sussy's
    My Pi
    Butterfield's

I make 'em at home sometimes. A friend didn't believe it was sold in any type of commercial establishment.
As we were checking out the cashier went "Are you making a shrimp and onion pizza? I haven't had one of those since Pizza Planet closed." My friend cussed me all the way home.An eatery I have not seen mentioned was the El Patio, on S.W.5th between Walker and Hudson. Talk about good greasy Mexican food!
Now Mexican places tell you to be careful because the plate is hot. But those good old Mexican places you could hear and see the grease sizzle!

Don't remember that one, but I use to live in the Rafters Club at s.w. 55th and Penn and the Twilight club across the street on 55th!! How about Ginny's Pub at the south end of the shopping center on s. penn just south of Borthicks furniture!

I alway's thought that the plate is hot was bon appetite in Spanish.

I rarely if ever went inside a bar. But I remember a few that were popular
or on main road we drove.

The Balcony on NW 10 and east of Council. I heard they wouldn't let you in
    if you were wearing jeans.
Filthy McNasty's in Paseo, which later became the Jail or vice versa. I went
there once, only because I was under age.
    The Jail West on Council.
The Esquire on NW 10th and May on the SE corner
The Blue Goose on 28th & N. Classen?
The Hi-Lo east of the Classen Circle. I played a gig there once.
The GQ @ 16th & N Broadway. Gigged there, too.
The Blue Note on NW 23rd & Robinson.
The Tee-Pee just east of I-35 near NE 23rd. It was in a bowling alley.

Have you ever noticed that most bars have "The" in their name?

When I was a kid it seemed like every bowling alley had a bar.
Did any of you hang out in them?

What about Cedar Palace at I-40 and Scott Street? Did you play there?

I went to the Twilight Club during the mid and late '70's. That was a rough place. Everyone was either going to prison, had warrants or just got out. And that was just the women. No kidding about being rough. I hung at a bar at 29th and Penn but I don't remember the name. Had rooms in the back for rent. It was almost as rough as the Twilight. Even made several trips to the Canadian Club.

    In my early drinking days it was;

The Sooner Brodcast System (OKC and Norman)
    The Fallout Shelter (Norman)
    The South 40 (Norman)
    After the Gold Rush(okc)
    The Long Branch(okc).
    Charlie Browns(okc)

Yes I did spend time at The Red Dog.
(Don't tell Southside Girl! It would ruin my spotless image!)

Went to the Canadian Club a time or two but usually ended up at the Rose Glo on S.W. 29th or Mickey's Last Chance on Newcastle Road. I never really had any trouble in the Twilight Club. The Tequila club in packin' town was where I would get my head popped a few times but the old Exchange Lounge (use to be next door east of Langston's) was the worst place around there. The Charter Club was the only half way Classy place down there. I think it was the Mint at 44th and S. Penn I frequented also. The Mai Kai is still going strong across the street from there.

Anyone remember the "Coppertop Cafe/bar/service station" on South Robinson on the west side of the street at 10th, last business before you went under the railroad bridege! The guy that owned it was a good friend of mine and my next door neighbor!!
