Are those kids playing in Lightning Creek again??? Tell them the game is much easier in more than 3 inches of water. So just take the quilts off the sheep and get the brooms back to mama before their step dad gets home.

Lightning Creek was a dangerous place. It's a good thing we didn't know any
better, otherwise we'd all be dead.

A good friend of mine lived on the east bank of 28th. From the park north to 27th usually held a lot of water. Had many a good swim there until one day I got home and found a hook-worm on my leg. No more swimming there.

The official Lightning Creek was off of S.W. 59th and Walker. The other
    creeks were merely wanabes.

Well I know the one near me IS THE REAL ONE. From the North Canadian heading south it runs between Central and Shields. At Commerce it turns west of Shields towards Robinson and straightens (as best it can) and follows Santa Fe to 44th. S.W. 44 it starts moving westward and crosses Walker at about 57th. Still heading southwest it crosses 59th. From there I am not sure.

Goes under 240 east of western. Ends at 81 or 82 a block or two west of western. Google has a good map.

I think on S. Western and south of 89th, is where they built the Lightning
    Creek flood thing.

I didn't either. I don't know how old you are but this is probably something I was taught in school but is no longer being used: archaic.

This thread should be called "Capitol Hill High School... not forgotten except
by those who attended Capitol Hill High School."

Hey, did you know the band director, Mel Lee? I see him every week at the
university teaching French Horn students. He's a great guy and a great
teacher. Dr. Lee was my conducting teacher in college. He gives lessons
    next door to my studio.

Even though we're now peers, I can't bear to call him by his first name.
