Indeed that is excellent news for Oklahoma and Oklahoma City.
Oklahoma:
Armed Forces Reserve Center Broken Arrow(a gain of 6 people)
Armed Forces Reserve Center Muskogee(a loss of 16 people)
Army National Guard Reserve Center Tishomingo(a loss of 30 people)
Krowse U.S. Army Reserve Center, Oklahoma City(a loss of 84 people)
Navy-Marine Corps Reserve Center, Tulsa(a loss of 34 people)
Oklahoma City (95th Division) -(a loss of 53 people)
From www.channeloklahoma.com:
The list indicates some of the Oklahoma facilities would gain responsibilities under the Pentagon plans, including a 3,500 person increase in military and civilian personnel at Fort Sill. Tinker would see an increase of 400 people and Vance would see an increase of 100.
That surprises me Oklahoma avoided BRAC once again. I thought for sure either Altus or Vance would be closed. I think Fort Sill and Tinker are pretty safe for a long time, as well as the McAlester ammunitions plant. Lawton looks to gain the most from the reallignment, over 3500 new people moving in over the next couple of years.
Vance AFB will gain 99 positions.
Ah, yes, a very positive note. We are very fortunate to have Tinker, Fort Sill, and Vance, in this great state. Kudos to the politicians, and others, who worked long and hard to keep our bases from making the list.Originally Posted by okrednk
